I have worked for quite some time now and have finally created a new track
for NASCAR Racing.  I call it Arrowhead Speedway, it is a good short
track, tough to drive, but fun.  Also there is a patch for dirt racing.
Find it all at my site at url

I like.  Keep it up with more tracks.  Any addition to the games just gives
more opitions to have fun with.  Thanks.

North Wilkes which should not be a problem cause they don't race there
anymore after this season. I downloaded the track and the dirt patch , I
have not tried the track yet, I just looked at it. I will try the dirt
patch later.

Try running the Arrowhead on VGA... it still has the N.Wilkesboro
opening screen.

I'd really like to see someone creating _new_ tracks, instead of
changing a few graphics and names in existing ones. It's quite close
to piracy.

I'd go so far as to say it *is* piracy.  If the track were created by
running a conversion against an existing copy of a track, then okay
fine (like Gerhard's fine conversions), but this is distribution of an
altered track made by Papyrus....and is therefore copyrighted.

I'd be a trifle pissed if I was them.

Ok, granted, it may be a tweak of N. Wilkesborro, but hey, ya know.
I asked papy 2 weeks after NCR came out about the possibility of a sim
based on 3/8 to 1/2 mile dirt oval racing. With stock, superstock, and
outlaw late model classes for those of us that would like the chance
to race as the Irvans, and Earnhardts, and Pettys did in the
beginning. I mean can you just see it, 3 wide on a 1/3 mile with the
sunset in your eyes coming out of 4 into a 2 lane front straight as
your windscreen clouds over with dust and you have to keep pulling off
tearoffs to see and the track announcer screaming into the mic to be
heard over 20 cars with no mufflers. Man that *was* racing!! Of course
I'm a bit predgiduced (spelling) as I spent 3 years pit crewing for an
outlaw team and hope to be building a stocker in the next year or two
:)
But anyway, made the suggestion and you know what my reply from Mike
in tech was at that time? A form letter saying that if I have a
specific prob they can help with they'd contact me and to contact
sales if wanted to buy a product. I'm like huh? what? Not knocking
Mike as he was very instrumental in getting my NCR running in the
beginning, but this would be a case of "if they won't put it out
someones gonna do it" And besides, not flaming anyone and I may not
know what I'm talking about here, but isn't the daytona patch evryones
been howlin about just a knockoff of Dega? I don't see a list of posts
slammin that track, so why this one?
My 8.2 cents.

This is the author of the track.  I am very upset by all of this
"slamming" of the wilkesboro track that I changed.  Yes that is it,
because we cannot change the track I had to use the same layout.  If you
don't like it don't download it.  I spent a lot of time on it, I mean a
lot of time and I really don't like the fact that people are expressing
dislike of my track.  The graphics are good, and the track is changed a
bit, the grandstands and buildings.  I tried to make it for some people to
have fun with, and that is what most are doing with it.  So everyone quit
***ing about it just to be heard, if you like it you are welcome, and if
you don't shut up, I don't appreciate it.  Plus what does it hurt to add a
little to the game, if you don't want to be a part of it, then DON'T!

At least someone is making an effort to throw something different into the
sim. Granted it's a "hacked track", but I don't mind racing with some
different scenery around me. Designing a new track altogether I hear is nearly
impossible to do without the Papyrus code, so others are doing the next best
thing. I'm surprised no one has tried creating a Texas speedway out of
C***te or a California speedway out of Michigan yet. Those who don't like
the tracks should just delete it from their hard drives or create something
better.

Hey,hey,hey, calm down there some.
I understand where your comin from but alot of us are behind ya on
this. Heck, I've got arrowhead running night races now. All I need now
is to figure out how to retain the track color so can run night time
dirt races. Thought it would be by editing the .pcx I have for night
races but all that gives when I open it is a white field like there
isn't anything there. I just wish I knew how people are doing these
edits so I could "create" Portland International Raceway :)
Hang in there Screechster.

Um, i downloaded the track and patch and didn't like the results of the
patch, it was like a brown dover patch? I thought it was gonna make the
whole track the grass or dirt!!! (That would be cool) No actual pavement
just pure grass!!

Hey, I D/L the track and the dirt patch, and it was done well.
I appreciate the amount of work that went into the patch, and would
hope that others continue this type of work.

I would love to see Sebring!  How about Road Atlanta? Lime Rock?
C'mon, folks! Those who have the prog. tools, put them to use.

While Nascar/ICR and Doom have nothing in common, I believe that the
success of ID is due to the ability of the public to create varied
levels that keep Doom interesting. The same concept applies to tracks
for Nascar/ICR.

I am not suggesting anything, I am only drawing a parallel between the
methods used on both items. Please do not take anything out of context
and start some BS thread!!!

Of course I do not want there to be anything to delay the Da*tona
track release by Papyrus, but I do not think there is a big risk of
doing a track not in play.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Well, thats because it is a brown dover patch. The program code
still has all the text from the original dover patch,  looks like
Jed's original patch has been modified by changing only the
palette entries (ie. it's a patched patch).

Don't get me wrong, these modifications are nice, but if you rip
someone else's code, please give the credit where credit is due.

All of these guys making utilities and tracks for these games are doing it to
increase there enjoyment of the game. When they post and share them it is to
help us enjoy the game more. I can think of few things in this world that***
me off more than people who have to *** about a free ride. Did you pay for it
? No. If you dont like it either try to do better or delete it and keep it to
yourself.
