If you like RidgeHill you'll love Red Rock Valley Speedway!! It's a
fast modern fantasy track with both heavy banking but also flat fast
esses. Perfect for online fights with it's wide track and tons of
grips thanks to the banking. Very well done "flow" to drive.

Wasn't Red Rock the name of a NFS track?

Red Rock was a fantasy track for Nascar 99 by Papyrus, it came out with Bull
Run at the time ...

And RedRock was a real blast once it was converted for use with ICR2!
One of my favorite tracks for that sim. <g>

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

There is a track of the name with a very similar description in GT2 on
PSX. Is it the same?

Sadly, it was dropped in GT3.

That's the source, GT2's model.  Pretty much the same, wide-open, three-wide with lots of speed in the GPL version.

I remember it as a real blast in GT2. Have driven countless laps there
because it had a prize car worth a lot of money and was fairly easy to
win in the Unisia JECS SkyLine.

Is the long, banked right hander before the tunnel (IIRC) still a real
balancing act on the throttle?

Not quite as long, I believe, and not requiring as much throttle balance.  The sand trap coming out of the tunnel on the little right before the banked left heading for the main straight is deadly, though.  8-)

Yep, this Red Rock Valley track is NOT the fantasy track from Papy's
Nascar games but from Playstation's Gran Turismo 2.

Some screenshots I put up at the track database:

This is really fun.  I'd love to see more Gran Turismo tracks "interpreted"
for GPL, as they promote fun racing.  The banked turns will reward a good,
precise driver with blindingly fast speeds, but also allow the duffers like
me to come in way too fast, do silly things with the brakes and still save
it without understeering off the outside.  It's not fast, it's not pretty,
but it lets you keep on racing after a mistake.

I have only one problem, and I think it is related to the Gran Turismo roots
of this track.  I seem to be stuck in "Drift" mode, not "Race".... ha ha
:-)
