3D Cards and ICR2 or GP2

Hi...

Sorry if this topic has been killed already... Every once in a while
(like daily), I dream about buying one of the new 3D accellerator
cards for my PC. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Monster3D or
the Rightous3D... Basically, I've decided upon the Voodoo chipset.

Unfortunately, I'm a fan of IndyCar2 and GP2 and not just Quake and
Descent...

Could somebody give me some info on where the publishers of these
two fantastic auto sims are positioning themselves... For example,
are there already patches available for these games to allow them
to support and of the new 3D cards or are there and press releases
that indicate what chipsets are favoured...

Please help...

L8R... Mike

PS -- you can post here or email me direct...

Indycar 2 is only supported by the Rendition Verite chipset and is
packaged with the following cards: Sierra's Screamin 3D, Canopus Total
3D, and the Intergraph Intense 3D. I bought the Intergraph Intense 3D
for the sole purpose of playing 3D Indycar 2 as it is my favorite game
of all time, so the $149.00 was well worth it to me. Plus I got 3D
Nascar 2 and enhanced VQuake.

However, I also have a Diamond Monster 3D and I can tell you from
direct comparisions that the 3DFX Voodoo chipset truly runs Whiplash,
Tomb Raider, Monster Truck Madness, ***gladiators, POD, GLQuake,
Descent 2, Hellbender, and Hyperblade prettier and faster than the
Rendition Verite. There are aslo supposed to be upcoming 3DFX patches
for Jetfighter III, Flying Corps, EF2000, MDK, Carmageddon, and
Interstate 76. I believe Eidos' Flying Nightmares 2 and Psygnosis'
Formula 1 will be 3DFX ready out of the box.

Also, there are no upgrades of any kind planned for GP2. However, I
did have a 2mb #9GXE Pro video card before I upgraded to the 4mb
Intergraph Intense 3D, and I noticed some improvement in the framerate
for GP2.

In conclusion, if you REALLY love Indycar 2, you need to get one of
the Rendition Verite boards mentioned above. Otherwise, for more
titles and better performance go with the 3DFX Voodoo boards. If you
are a real freak get both.
