V4 Speed w/High Stakes

I recently purchased a the InterAct V4 Force Feedback racing wheel to
use with "Need for Speed: High Stakes".  The force feedback works but it
seems like the input from the wheel is delayed.  Anyone know if there is
anything I can do about this?  It seems like the game runs much smoother
when I use the Microsoft Sidewinder joystick that I have.  I'm running
Windows 98 300MHz PII machine and I have the V4 plugged in though my
Soundblaster Live X-Gamer.

Also, what does "Poll with Interrupts enabled" under the advanced
settings of the V4 game controller screen mean?  Should this be on or
off?  It seems that the controller works either way.

This is the only auto simulator I own so I can't compare software.

if you left your device monitor running in the system tray, you can right
click on it and try to change the responce time there, Mine works good with
NFS:HS I allways disable the Force feedback device monitor becuase it uses
alot of your CPU and slows down games, It is only good for games that don't
support force feedback.

the poll with interrupts I have no idea what it is
I am running a 333 K62 win98 SBlive Voodoo2 and NFS runs great
Hope this helps

I did that first thing and I still think it plays really bad (basically
unplayable).  When you have the FF disabled, do you ever notice the FF
light on the wheel turn off and on?  Mine does this all the time even
though the feedback is actually inactivated.  The light will go off for
about 30 seconds then come on for about 10 then repeats the process
over again.
