I recently talked with the manager of an Electronics Boutique and the word is
that N99 will be released 10/15 and N3 will be out in January '99. I cant
wait!!

FOr Confusion sake... IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT Nascar 1999 from Sierra
Sports, PLEASE say "1999" as I know there is a sim called nascar99 from EA
or somthing... cut out confusion about the name.
Nascar1999 press release was supposedly going to be out for xmas, I wonder??
Nascar (3?) is farther off than that... and they are 2 diferent critters as
far as I understand...

that would hep me out... and help others know what you are talking about!

I have a question. With N2'99 due out this month, and N3(2000) due out
"Sometime Soon", is it actualy worth it spend the money? I'm thinking from a
TEN point of view. Will they update to N2'99, or just plain wait 'till N3 is
out? With Papy/Sierra pushing to get N3 done right, but out soon....? See
where I am going? Don't get me wrong. Chances are, I'll be one of the first in
line to by N2'99 and N3 as soon as they hit the shelves. I'm just trying to
come up with a viable excuse that I (and mostly the wife) can live with for
spending that much money, on the same game, just updated versions, in so sort
a period of time. She actualy just wants me to wait until N3 is out. BTW, are
they going to keep with form and include everything thats in N2/N2'99? IE- The
trucks? I know the tracks will be there, but will both BGN and CTS be there?

I think that unless you have a super fast system, you'll have to get N99
until you upgrade to a 450+ system. I haven't gotten GPL and don't plan
to until I upgrade. People in the newsgroups are complaining about slow
framerates with faster computers than mine, besides I doubt N3 will be
out that early, I predict 3rd/4th quarter 99. I'll be playing N99 for a
while, with new tracks, updated ones anf hopefully double file restarts
as mentioned before in Papy's news release

We won't see nascar 2000 until Dec 1999....its called 2000 for a reason!!!

Fwiw, I'm running GPL on a 233 mmx system, with the Hercules Thriller 3d 8mb
pci card. I have some textures turned off, mainly objects in the mirrors
except cars and track, and skid marks, and clouds. The sim still looks
beautiful, and I am having a blast with it. Frame rates from low to high
20's with a full field of cars., with a few 30's thrown in there.
You don't have to have the latest and greatest to enjoy this sim.

Actualy it would have saved lots of confusion if Sierra would've just
called em Nascar Racing II 1998 and left N2000 as Nascar Racing 3.

For onr thing, as many people as I know had probs with Win95 and 98 I
can see people being wary of anything with a year as part of it's name
<G>.
