Hi.I have a Mad Catz steering wheel.
How do I get the pedals to work in Screamer2?. The setup
picks up the wheel but not the pedals.
The pedalls work on other games.

I think your out of luck on this one. I have the same setup. I have tried
the thrustmaster patch for the game, but still no go. Looks like it's only
buttons and wheel that will work. I've check madcatz's homepage but still
nothing on setting up this game.

I'll be buying a t2 soon, seen as my madcatz is wearing out, and there's
no sign of any replacement parts. Personally I never really liked the
madcatz, seen as many games refuse to work with the wheel. And the wheel
sits way too high on a standard height desk. Now the wheels getting loose,
so it's now headed for the bin. I'd advise anyone not to buy this wheel.
Go for a t2 instead. At least it's supported by almost every racing game.

Open it up (you'll see why it's cheap) and replace the elastic bungees
with two (pref non-lubricated) ***s.  These are tough, don't
stretch and stiffen the wheel alot. :-)  Read this on a web site the
other day - can't remember the URL sorry.  It's also useful if you
have a girlfriend over, and can't find anything.

"Wait a sec, I'll just go and pull my steering wheel apart!"  ;-)

BTW, the pot in the wheel died on me recently, and when I yanked it
out, I realised why the damn wheel is so touchy - B250K!!!

I went down to the local electronics store and replaced the pot with
a B100K and it's much better to drive with.  Still a cheap wheel, but
I just thought I'd mention the room for improvement.  (about $3.00
worth of mods and it's better)  Unfortunately, the pot was standard
and had a flat cut into a wide round axle.  The Mad Catz used a
spline axle in the pot, so I have to (dangerously) widen the hole in
the wheel axle and use a small***as a *lock nut*.  My times in
N2 have improved, and I can race door2door much better now.

Do these mods at your own risk, but since you're throwing it out,
you may as well have a go.

I did just that after reading a page on how to make a steering wheel and
pedal setup (See url below). Sorry, I did that before I read your message.
I'm pleased to say
that the wheel has been restored to a reasonable state. I couldn't beleive
it when I opened it up and saw a $1.50 craft elastic band acting as a
bungee. How cheap can they get. So after much undoing of just about every
nut on the wheel and internals I was able to replace the elastic. If
anyone has any questions on this procedure, e-mail me.

Now to the real story. Making your own steering wheel/pedals. It's easier
than you think. I'm planning to make mine when I get a break from uni.
It shouldn't cost me more than $50 (aust), to get a wheel with the ability
and customisation that I want.

It's at http://www.racesimcentral.net/~wottenad/ I think it's one of  the BEST
pages on the net. It also has great links to simulator pages and such.
