Anyone else agree with these?

0.  GP2 is the best thing yet, but please can we have these things fixed
soon?
1.  Menus are unreadable due to horizontal rolling under Windows 95.
Actual game still plays OK.
2.  The says you can adjust hieght and zoom on some track cameras.  ANyone
actaully been able to do this?
3.  The cars bounce way too high and then look they almost float down to
the track
4.  Absolutely no support for Windows 95 or Windows NT 4!  (Unlike all the
"new" games from Epic etc).
5.  No ability to overlay a lap's data history over a circuit map.  This
prevents analysis of lines into corners etc.
6.  No network play (yet?)
7.  No 1995/1996 circuits, teams or cars (yet?)

We $%&^%$ waited years for this sim, let see if we can do a complete
software test for them.

Hope this helps.

No problems with menus under win95 when I tried it on two different
machines.

Hmm, haven't tried, but I have noticed some problems trying to get
different camera views whilst in the pit lane.

I don't think any car simulation is doing a full physics model of cars
in flight, and that includes gp2. In many ways it's the icing on the
cake, and it doesn't bother me. The modelling of loss of grip over
small bumps and kerbs is important, and that seems to be quite
convincing.

I think it's clear that we are in a transition stage between the last
of the dos games and the first of the win95 games. I suspect that we
will have to wait for GP3 to get a win95 version, hopefully with
support for direct3D. Lets just hope it doesn't take as long as GP2.

Um, you've tried clicking the 'map' button on the graph page? Or did
you have something more sophisticated in mind?

No arguments here. One of the few aspects of the game that looks
rather dated.

'Old chestnut' comes to mind. Isn't this bogged down by the hideous
licensing problems with the F1 powers? Personally, I'm quite happy
racing in the 94 season.

Oh yes indeed. I intend to test it most thoroughly :)

Well, it will certainly be interesting to see to what extent Sierra/M.
support GP2 with patches and updates.

Regards,
James.

Yes; it only works on the behind and in-front views (Del and PgDn).

They don't float, the occupancy goes sky high and so time slows down.

Couldn't agree more; they learned nothing from GpPerf's excellent
example.

Play it in DOS, like the box recommends.

Yep. Chase mode and reverse chase mode both work in this fashion as
described in the manual.

Try to increase your framerate by cutting down on detail. If your
occupancy figure is high, one game second could be lasting for three
real seconds, hence the floating cars.

Fair comment I suppose, but see point 1 above.

Wrong. Click on the 'map' box to the bottom right of the analysis
screen. The highlighted section of the map corresponds to the graph in
the window. Adjust the horizontal zoom to focus in on particular corners
or sequences of corners.

Can't say.

Agreed.

Well, I wouldn't call any of those 'bugs', not really. More a matter of
taste perhaps?

regards,

Paul.

Make sure your processor occupancy is 100% or less, then the cars will
bounce at the correct speed - it looks very real. You have to turn a LOT
of textures off to get <100% occupancy in the replays though :(

GP2 has a great driving model, Graphics, Sound and Setup options and
pretty much every thing else is ratshit. No Weather, No Network, No
paintkit, No 96 season, Not bing able to finish laps in qualifying is a
real pain in the ass and I cannot believe that it is still in the game. I
want to be able to load games from the first menu when I exit. I want to
be able to hear other cars. I want Katyama to be hopeless like he is in
real life. Please bring out a patch to fix these things. You did have
enough time to do them already though. Otherwise congratulations on the
best driving game ever.

Are you talking about the line that was drawn on the track?
I find the map button adequate, and you can watch the whole lap in replay
if you want to.
I could have wished a 'seconds driven' figure somewhere, though.

Cheers!

<standard gripe snippage>

Oliver,

If in fact Ukyo is fast in GP2 that would be a more subtle touch of
realism than I would have expected.  For about 4 or 5 races in the middle of
the 94 championship, Ukyo managed to bring the Tyrrell to the front of the
grid. I believe the high water mark may have been fourth at the start for
Hungaroring. Incidentally, poor Ukyo spun off on the second corner of the race
after some contact.

Average, yes; mediocre, possibly, hopeless -- certainly not...  :)

eric

Pleased with once hopeless Lotus driver Alessandro Zanardi's Indycar
performance.

>All that shows is how much lower the standard of driving is in Indycar

but Zanardi has also matured as a driver as has Fittipaldi and they would
do much better if they were in F1 with decent teams like they didn't have
before if they came back to it now. And Katyama certainly is hopeless and
would probably be suited to Go-karts as they are less expensive and harder
to crash. One thing whih Katyama seems to be very proficient at.

screen you will find a clickable field together with the word "Map" (at least, I think it says "Map").
Click it and you will get the Circuit layed over your data. Together with the Zoom Options and the
Scroll Bars you will find out everything about your laptime.

Race on,
Goran

What's that 'MAP' button for in the PA screen then?  Use that and
then extend the x-length.

Although this shows you which part of the circuit is displayed on the
x-axis, it doesn`t show your actual racing line, which you could view
in GPPerf.
