by Andreas Uffinge » Fri, 25 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hello !

My friend and me had yesterday a very strange problem by playing GPL via
modem.

The syss where connecting, but after the message "syncronisation ..." the
modems disconnected. We didnt can do anything! (Connection times about 2
secs)

Please help.

I assume you were trying to use direct Modem-to-Modem connection. Me
and my friend had similar problems; very difficult to maintain a
connection after the modems had performed handshaking. We found a cure
for this with the help of email from Papy:

------
------

So, create a core.ini file with proper commands, and lower the modems
FIFO buffer to "one-click-from-left" value, and then enjoy the racing
- hopefully.

Watch out - you and your friend (and your friend and you) will be
getting a visit from the Grammar Police before too long... ;-)

O.K. - dieses ist von AltaVista bersetzt worden, also ist es vermutlich
eine Eingabe des Abfalls!

Mich und mein Freund m?chten GPL ber einem Modem spielen, aber die
Grammatikpolizei kommt, uns in den Muttern zu treten, es sei denn I und
mein Freund anstatt spielen!

OK - this has been translated by AltaVista, so it's probably a load of
rubbish!

Me and my friend would like to play GPL over a modem, but the Grammar

instead!

Neil,
There's nothing worse than corrupt Grammar Police!  It's "my friend and I"
in case you were wondering...
Now, back to GPL...

Aaargh!

I never said *I* was the grammar police...!

This is starting to remind me of that Monty Python sketch:

My Aunt, who I live with, had a parrot named "Sixties"...

It sometimes makes me wonder whether people even read the whole of a thread
before replying, which seems to be missing the point somewhat.

Stephen,

Sorry, I forgot to include these in my post:   :-)    ;-)   "LOL!" , to denote
that I was joking and don't give a rats rear-end about the original poster's
grammar.  And yes, I did read his post (which I understood fine BTW) because I
had the same problem he had and I was getting ready to dispense my knowledge
about the "AssumedModemConnectSpeed" core.ini, but someone else beat me to it.
:-)  Okay, I'm done beating that dead horse....:-)

works.

"beating that dead horse"?
This mens "Ich schlage das tote Pferd". OhOh.

I hope you understood (?)  what i mean. Im keeping on writing in my
grammar-english, because what i saw in the post before (the translation from
altavista makes me really sick) ;-))))
