Take this advice with a grain of salt because I am a newbie to racing sims
in general. My best advice in GPL at the beginning (I've been playing for 2
weeks now) is to be gentle with the throttle. Also, shortshift while you are
trying to learn the f1 cars. Also, don't worry about lap times at the
beginning, try to become consistent (this is my mantra to myself as I push
too hard to improve my PB and spin/crash). One thing I found helpful when I
started getting frustrated was to switch cars. In the end, it takes a lot of
practice. I've managed to get my PB at Watkins Glen from about 1:15 (once I
leveled off and could drive the track) to 1:07.20 (in the lotus) and 1:08.20
(in the Brab). Many people say Spa is a great place to learn but I like the
Glen because I get feedback quicker.
