GPL: learning one track seems to help another... :)

Hi GPL folks,

I'm not so good yet - yes, more practise, I know :)
My best in the only track I've practised more, Monza, is only
1:31.39, but yesterday I tried Zanwoort, a track from the other end
of track types. I could achieve 1:33.08! Only about 3.5 seconds slower
than J. Clark! I was really proud! And after not very much practising.
What I really learned is that you should be careful with the throttle...
Then I took part to a AI-race with 6 competitors from the weakest end.
I was 3rd! I could have been 2nd, but in the last lap my nerves couldn't
stand the car that had been at my tail in a couple of laps... I just went
wide. But I was very happy with my 3rd position!

What a sim!

PS Today I was 8 seconds slower in Spa than the 19th best driver... ;-/

Hi could you tell me how you entered a A1 race and choose who to drive
against, i.e. you say you raced against the weakest six.

Regards

Bob

I've found that too. From the day I got the GPL demo (Monza), until
about two months after I had bought the full verstion, I did pretty much
nothing but drive at the Italian circuit, learning how the car reacts to
different situations. Finally I moved over to the other tracks and good
times came pretty quickly.
And it's still happening - The next round of the IGPS is at Mosport, a
track I have basically not touched at all. Before today I'd registered
about 5 laps in total since I bought GPL. On my 13th lap out of the pits
I clocked 1m22.2 in my Ferrari, which ain't too bad, I think. I hope!

Cheers!
Graeme Nash

Somebody already explained it here:

You just have to edit the driver.ini file (and make a copy of the
original before .. :-)

In the file there is information block of each driver. They start
with text: [DRIVER_ ... etc.

Change the numbers:

 DRIVER_1   becomes DRIVER_19
 DRIVER_2   becomes DRIVER_18
 ...
 DRIVER_19  becomes DRIVER_1

And save the new driver.ini

After that, if you choose 5 drivers, you'll get the 5 slowest. If
you choose 19 drivers, Jim Clark will be probable the winner... ;-)

Good Luck!
