SCGT service pack 3 no external sound

  The race calendar includes an option for every kind of race enviroment
and weather.  So if you run a career with sp3.0 and you DON't want to
run rain or night races, you have to rem the lines in the calendar
section using a text editor.(notepad can't handle that big of a file so
you might want to hunt around for a better text editor)
  you rem out the lines using the // at the start of a line.
it takes some effort but after a few hundred keystrokes you can set your
season up anyway you like.
  The season schedule is located in the DAT folder in a file called
MATRIX.MC

  Here are the first lines of the season schedule

SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Night/10/20/40/80"
SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Night Wet/10/20/40/80"
SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Wet/10/20/40/80"
SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta/10/20/40/80"

if you only want the day race change it to this

//SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Night/10/20/40/80"
//SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Night Wet/10/20/40/80"
//SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta Wet/10/20/40/80"
SPCAR_SEASON_TRANSAM    ="Road Atlanta/10/20/40/80"

There are 4 classes with upto 13 tracks and 4 options for each tracks,
that
means you have to adjust uhmmm ....a whole bunch of lines.
  You could have all night racing, all rain or any combo you like,
or you could just race'em all...that would be one monster season.

  now the sound ...can you hear your car when you are alone?  If your
driving in a pak the other cars often drown out your car.  The 2nd
possibility might be you don't have all the wav files that the cars
in the SP3.0 use.  Go to gtinsider and dload a util called
scgtsoundcheck.zip
that will tell you where all the different sound files are located.

keep asking more questions if I confused ya!

SCGT service pack 3 no external sound

Ah! Obviously another of those RTFM-moments... Thanks!

Yes, but switching to the swing man view or the spectator view and I
only hear breaking and crashing noises, no engine sound of none of
the cars including mine.

I did that and all the soundfiles are where they should be.
I think the problem the problem might be something else as it seems
to depend on the order in which you install SCGT, the patch and SP3.
In my first attempt I couldn't hear the in-car engine sound - in the
external views the sound worked well...

Maybe I check the wave files - could be they are set to a much lower
volume than they should - I dunno....

  It's a good chance you are choosing cars that don't have the
wav files included in SP3.  the way to find out is pure drudgery.
A) locate the bmp picture file of your car...an image browser like
ACEEDEECEE  lets you scroll through all the images in a folder after you
load the first one.
B) After you find the bmp of your car, you can find the matching .veh
file.  In that are about 4 lines of engine noise.  2 for idleing and 2
for higher rpm.  Almost always the two higher ones are not in your sound
folder and thats why you can't hear your car.
C)  Once you know which sound file the car author was using, you can
locate the file with the scgtsoundcheck program or....cut and paste some
of the standard wav files from the original install.
  I should add hear that most of the sp3.0 and the 1.551 patch
improvements REQUIRE the use of 22hz sound.  So make sure all the proper
wav files are in the 22hz sound folder and that in the game options you
choose the 22hz option.
  good luck
