LOL Dave! Dittos! I have sat here since the election reading all this
political pabulum on RAS and biting my tongue. I so wanted to chime in on
the discussion but kept thinking,  no don't do it. (I saw what Mitch got
caught up in) Don't let the sub-moron label get you down. Wisdom is far more
valuable than intellect. Thanks for writing the responses to this. Saved me

While it's not an exact proof of moronhood, neither is it a proof of
intellectual capability I am afraid, esp. if your daddy happens to
have deep pockets and certain good "relations" (called "Vitamin B"

If dubya isn't a moron he appears to do his darndest to look like one.
The guy hardly appears to have the ability to walk and talk at the
same time.  He inspires no confidence in this outsider of having any
clue what he's doing.

From what I can see, seems like the majority of the population voted
on the *real* issues, like stopping people from having ***s,
stopping gay people from getting married, the "War on Terror", the
fact that GWB is God's choice...

The economy, the environment, feck that - STOP THOSE ***S GETTING
MARRIED!!

Right - I'm not saying that I have any answers - I have no bleedin
clue as to how best to clear up the cluster*** that is IRAQ, but I
will say that killing civilians will only create more hatred against
the US and the UK.

"My baby has been killed, but that's OK - I can see the big picture
and that it's for the greater good"

Speaking as a parent, I'm afraid that if anyone killed my kids, I'd
wanna inflict as much pain on the perps as possible.

I dunno, if you beat someone long enough will their hate turn to love?

I don't hate America or Americans.  I do not have any time for GWB and
the apparent inbred hostility of the religious right.  I am, however,
heartened that there is such a vast number of US citizens did not vote
GWB and are not swayed by politics of fear.

I'm not afraid to say that I am not a well eductated man (that much is
probably apparent) so most likely you'll be able to bury me in an
argument, but I'm trying to get across a layman's view here.

It doesn't matter how many qualifications Bush has on paper.  If it
looks and acts like a doofus, it's most likely doofus.

Why are we involved in a land war in IRAQ again...?

See also Uwe's reply. President Bush simply doesn't project the image of a
university graduate.

Even sub-morons like you come up with more thoughtfull stuff than he does at
times. <vbg>

You might want to travel abroad and feel welcome some day ?

You got that wrong. The OP meant that apart from a few moslim terrorists
(and moslim rednecks in a few selected countries) nobody had a particular
beef with the Americam people themselves. That has changed.

We have our problems, sure, but we don't try to offload them on the rest of
the world by making our currency cheaper, for example. We also didn't make
it harder on ourselves by starting a war in the Middle East thus hiking up
the oil price.

Yeah, and it took us nearly 50 years to get back to a situation where a
single currency was universally accepted. Thanks a bunch! <g>

Per capita it's the Norwegians, I think.

BTW, who hasn't signed the Kioto agreement?

We had nukes pointing at us too, dude.

<cough> Bosnia-Herzegovina <cough>

A UN-approved military intervention led by US armed forces, correct, but, to
borrow your reasoning with regard to the humanitarian aid, we Belgians,
e.g., sent *HALF* our airforce there.

Of course not, it's just that even if you look beyond the surface you come
away shaking your head in disbelief.

Try us.

LOL...

Regardless of what reasons Osama cares to hide behind, those acts are
inexcusable and were condemned throughout the world. It's just that the US
felt it had to hit someone, anyone in reply which goes against the grain
here. Nobody would have protested if you'd gotten Bin Laden and blew him up
on live television, but he's still out there (and plotting against you as we
speak... no amount of invading and reshaping of political landscapes in
moslim countries is going to stop him).

Terrorism happens here too, but we focus our efforts on destroying their
networks, not taking it out on Luxemburg.

Jan./European intelligentia snob. ;-)

The world's #1 terrorist is George Bush. He's a liar, a brainwashed ***en
Bible thumper, a criminal, an idiot, and a worldwide embarrassment. Everyone
on the planet outside of the 50 million "m***values" saviors and flag
wavers who voted for him sees that. Hopefully the supporters, friends and
loved ones of the 100,000 innocent men, women, and children he's slaughtered
in Iraq will get equal revenge on him and his terrorist organization.

Whatever happens now, the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Bush and
his supporters.

100,000 (and tens of thousands more mutilated and injured) and counting, and
for nothing but his lies about non-existent WMD, and yet some Americans
still have the nerve to label others terrorists. If I could pluck those
fools by the collar and instantly drop them in Iraq next to those dead,
mangled bodies of women and children, they'd shit themselves.

Again David.  I ask you  a simple question.
Where was your m***outrage when President Clinton was bombing
indiscriminently over the skies of South Eastern Europe?  His fear of US
Casulties kept the Air Force artificially high with their bombing runs
and certainly resulted in a much higher scale of civilian deaths than if
he'd have prosecuted the nearly 3 month bombing campaign with lower,
higher precision targeting.
You certainly have the right to make your claims, but you do need
perspective.  The bulk of casulties inflicted upon the world by US troops
have come at the hands of Democratic regimes.  Your stand against war is
honorable, but is it a stand couched in decency or merely political
stridency?
Your 100,000 victims is a telling number.  One would think whole
portions of Iraq would be turned into burial plots to intern such a large
number.  Strange how such vast burial sites have not been reported on by
the world's press.  A quick Google survey showed one Group, the Lancet
group estimating 100,000.  After that game reports from the non American
Friendly BBC and CNN that listed cilivian casulties at 15,000.  The first
page of searches brought about a 6 to 1 ratio of the ultra-high number of
100k vs the number which is only 15% of Lancet's.  Blame  One would still
have to consider if the 100,000 is accurate, it pales in comparision to
the killing of Iraqis by Saddam's hand.  Last I heard, mass graves
accounted for more than 350,000 Iraqis with some estimates of nearly 1
Million CIVILIANS killed during Saddam's tenure.  These were not US
thinktank sites remember, just a quick and very unscientific search via
Google.  Seems like President Bush is not being thorough enough.   Surely
with all his lying and idiocy he can kill more Iraqis than Saddam.
Certainly war is painful and gruesome, yet blame is all to easy, pointing
a finger makes one feel better inside I would think. And any number can
be twisted to fit my needs or yours.
So feel free to throw incendiary words and insults around...but
please, show me consitancy...dig up your m***outrage you MUST have
vented on BBS's and the early net at the Clinton Adminstration, at the
Carter and Regan presidencies, at the butcheries of FDR and Harry S
Truman.  If you can prove to me that Lyndon B Johnson's Rolling Thunder
Campaign was any less offensive to human life, then you can stand up and
rail to heavens...but if only Republican Presidents are guilty of ***
and mayhem then please...shut up.  I welcome honest thought not screaming
insults.

elrikk here. (also sub moron and a Canadian to boot.)   ;o)

Not sure about Dave but I, being on the wrong side of 60, remember taking
part in the typical antiwar demonstrations back in the sixties.

I'm a bit of a lefty, but had absolutely no problems with the U.S. attacks
on Afghanistan and the Taliban. (I'm one with tons of spare time and am a
cable news junkie; CNN & MS/NBC)  I remember thinking back then "More power
to ya."

I also watched live all day 9/11 and when the towers fell, and the shock
began to wear off, realised that someone was going to pay big time.  ( and
they deserved anything they got!)

But I do beleive that the attack on Iraq was really ill advised and that the
collateral damage being dealt out there does border on inhuman.   IE. if a
bunch of thugs took over the home of some typical American family the cops
would most likely not shoot up the place in an attempt to restore order.
They more probably would wait the situation out, and not risk the innocent
lives more then necessary.

Now with the attack and bombardment of Fallujah, too many (by my standards)
innocent Iraqi's will suffer (and have suffered) ; and I think that the real
reason this is happening is judt to give a demonstration of U.S. power to
anyone interested.  The Iraqi's are just a convenient subject for the
demonstration.

I hope for the best but think that the reprecussions of this will be with us
for the rest of my natural life.

Elrikk

PS  An old British diplomat once described his Canadian counterpart as " a
really nice guy wh thinks everybody else is one to.  I'm not that innocent.
