GPL Game Engine runs uneven FPS

The scenery seams to "jerk" alot in GPL...
I mean the framerate is sort of "smooth" but "hangs"
or "skip" a few frames a sec.

(note, this isnt all that notiseble,
but if the problem is there while running
with a full field of cars, and the framerate
drops, I wouldnt want it to "studder".
A lower framerate YES, but it really should
be more even...)

Ive tried to run at different resolutions but
i get the same result in all of them....
Infact ive olso tried the Sofware mode,
and the problem is still there....

Seams very strange to me, its like the game engine
isnt running smoothly or even?

I also tried Forsaken Demo and others,
without any problems at all, they all are
smooth as silk...

(Reminds me of a problem I had with the 3D
application "Strata Studio Pro 1.75", where
the 3D engine wasnt written to cope with
PAL and wasnt able to work in 25fps, only
30fps. So the result when watching a rendered
animation was very similar to what I see here....
To "solve" that problem Stratas 3D engine simply
"threw away" 5 frames a second...)

Anyway, this is THE sim, I will never go back
to my old sims, and i just cant wait for the release!;)

I hope this is a BUG, so this doesnt spoil this
otherwise Fantastic Sim...

Please get back to me on this :)

Sounds like texture thrashing on that 8Meg.  It would make sense that it
only happens every once in a while (while new textures are being loaded
from the harddrive).  Other games don't necessarily use as much texture
memory to affect you...

It also does this on 12Mb Voodoo2 SLI, PII-450, 256Mb ram.... with textures
turned off. Prob not texture thrashing...

us with the following around Sat, 12 Sep 1998 15:42:13 +0200,:

Apparently a Rendition set works better than Voodoo. I think it's
something to do with mirror textures. Anyone?

Hmmm, I use a Monster Voodo-2, mine 'seems' ok!  How do you display
the FPS anyhow?

Now Id really like to get some attention here.....;)
? see this "Problem" as a really Big deal.

I know this now, cause im not the only one with this experience.

If you dont now what Im talking about, please run a lap on the
Monza Demo.....stop after the finish line......go to replay......
....select TV2......watch the car as it comes out of the last turn
before the straight.....(note, the camera isnt moving only the car)

Now you should se a "Jerky" car coming out of the corner......
Its really jerky all the time, in a steady rythm a couple of times a sec!

Beta testers Please respond and say it isnt there anymore!
(if its true) :)

.....no...No....NOOOO.....:(

This is NOT good...I would expect low framerates if I were running
software-mode,
but not with a PII-450 Voodoo2!?
I would even accept that the framerate drops now and than, but a
"Studdering"
game engine, in this wonderful groundbraking sim???
I cannot belive that they are gonna ship a "broken" game engine...and in
doing so,
they would probebly spoil what easely could have been the best game of all
time!

The most worrying part is that no betatester has neither confirmed or denyed
this very HUGE problem!

Hmmm, lets hope so! :)
