'Johnny Herbert's GP' - A Revamped 'Power F1?'

Just downloaded the demo to Johnny Herbert's GP Championship...

What the f*ck is this?!  A 3Dfx-ed Power F1?!  It uses the same physics,
sounds, graphics, FONTS, and camera angles as it, so my question is...

Is this legal?

Is the full version any different (read: better)?  (Oops, that's two
questions.)

I will say that it was somewhat fun, because I seem to be a big fan of
anything in that grey area between "sim" and "arcade,"  but for some reason
GPL has completely mesmerized me (no suprise, huh?).

But, the framerate was unbelievably low.  I had to make sure it was in 3Dfx
mode (which I'm still not sure if it was using Glide or D3D - any way to
tell just by looking?  I have a Monster 3D II.), but it looked to be running
in a pretty low resolution (lower than 640x480).  Surely it can't be all
that texture mapping (no fog) and reflections on the cars...

Any info from owners (or players) of the full version would be appreciated.
