Hows about this?

Get the FIA to mandate flat wings, front and back for the sponsors messages,
define a box for the 'body' of the car (similar to todays) that the teams
can do as they please with, allow the teams as much under car curvature as
they want and can build, keep the grooved tyres (cars have little grip at
low speed, makes them slide a little), open up the rule book on engines and
transmissions a little, and its 1967 but with grip thats not affected by
cars infront and technology that might keep an engine at 20000rpm for 2
hours and not change gear once!

thats what F1 is about isnt it? great technology in the cars, and cars that
can actually race close to each other.

looking at that CVT williams test car (that apparently ran 1s quicker on its
initial test with an unrefined system!) made me think 'wow, thats pretty
cool'

its the downforce from those bleedin wings that stops the cars running close
to each other for multiple laps, its the team orders at ferrari that have
made what couldve been another 1989 into a farce, and its the lack of
freedom withing certain elements of the car thats stunting growth and
causing the teams with the huge bank balances to be able to refine things so
much that the lesser teams will never find an innovative way forward.

never know, maybe bernie will buy ferrari, and cap the spend?

rambling again, im off to bed.

An interesting read for those looking to see more action on the
non-simulated racing scene:
