ATI Rage Mobility on a laptop

Hi everyone,

Does anyone here run GPL on a Dell Inspiron laptop?  A friend of mine is
trying to get it to work in 3D accelerated mode and he is having no luck.
The video card is an ATI Rage Mobility.  Is it possible to get OpenGL to
work with this configuration??  It works in software mode but it looks
terrible.

Look on deja.com for "GPL" and "laptop" for the whole story.  Briefly, it
won't work on the Mobility chip in your friend's Inspiron, but maybe on the
newer Mobility 128, which is only in the $4000 IBM A20p, but may soon make
it to Dells.  So far it also doesn't work on the Savage Mobile chip, which
otherwise does well with OpenGL games.  Boo hoo.

That's a bummer.
Oh well, he'll just have to buy a new laptop now =)
