Played the beta version like so many others here. I found the physics of the
game very satisfying, can really feel the grip levels on the tracks,  yeah
the sound is not brilliant but acceptable, the graphics are good but like
others have mentioned demanding on the system running them.
Still this is going to be the best F1 sim out to date and am eagerly
awaiting its official release.
The only major problem with the game are the tracks, from playing various
sims you get to know the track layouts very well indeed and even though from
game to game there may be slight differences, they are only slight. Here I
find its like learning the tracks all over again, I mean whichever track
your at it just doesn`t feel right, I mean if your at Monza, you know its
monza, but here you get the feeling this is a new circuit in the grand prix
season.
Now how many of us have been round these tracks in real life from a***pit
point of view? , Not many I think, but I dont think (and I may be wrong)
that all the other game manufacturers have misrepresented these tracks in
all the previous F1 games and that This release has suddenly got them right.
This game is so close to being perfect in my opinion that one could say that
the next release 2001, would be totally awsome with some improvements, but
from past experience I think we all know that most companies use the same
engine with a few tweaks and updates in their follow up releases. I cant see
the tracks ever being put right unfortunately.
So this is one potential Geoff Crammond beater which has let itself down in
areas we know GC will be at his strongest.
Well thats it from me, hope I didn`t bore anyone to death.

Well said Adrian.. the most sensible analysis of F1 2000 that I've seen.

I agree with just about everything you said.

The track layout is the biggest problem, but that is addressed in the final,
but not entirely fixed.

The AI still suck, but I don't play against them because the online code is
pretty good.

The physics feel just right, and the sound is a little dissapointing, but if
you have a 3d sound card, listen a car passing you underbrakes at the
Parabolica at Monza..  awesome!!!

The graphics are quite good, but not revolutionary.  Little things like the
replay facility could have been made better like the GPL one.  Multiplayer
without practise or qualifying sessions  .. that is dissapointing..  we miss
out on all the qualifying battles that could have been possible.  Imagine
sitting in the pits with 4 minutes to go in qualifying, your main rival has
just beat you, you have 2 laps left ..  THAT would be brilliant...

That's the thing I also missed very much. I can't imagine why they
didn't implement that. I can only have this little bit of hope that
the final Final version isn't the final version, and that the real
final will have multiplayer qualifying...
- and glide
- and better AI
- and realistic tracks
- and a free keyholder.

Unfortunately I'm convinced this is the final version. Bummer.

Hi all

I think its a nice "game" ( no gpl :) but the only thing I don't like is the
deadzone in the steering wheel !!!
I reduced the in game settings to null and runned a program thats called
null.exe but
the deadzone stays ( it became smaller but its still there )
can I do something else ???

Try setting the speed sensity to 0, and then adjust the controller
sensitivity to get the right feel.  After I turned off all the aids and got
the controls adjusted the feel of the car is very good.  Also, I get better
force feedback effects with these settings, you can feel more than just the
curbs.

I really like the physics, you get a sense of the cars "momentum".  I think
this is what makes GPL so good.  However, the track accuracy (does the
parabolica at monza really have a straight section in it?) and the AI (they
seem to slide  side-to-side on the track alot) have a lot to be desired.

If the multiplayer is good, I don't think I would care to much about the AI
(can't remember the last time I raced the AI in GPL).

Don't forget, there are various changes to the Monza track this year. Most
notably the first chicane and,I believe, around one of the lesmo curves.

Yeah, and considering the fact that changes to tracks are made from
time to time, what is the problem with having track recreations a
little different from real life? I mean, if it was an exact
representation, and then subseqently the track was changed some, then
it wouldn't be right anymore, the exact situation we have now in F12K.
