GP2: No simultaneous racing in Multiplayer mode?

I was reading the section on Multiplayer racing in the manual and it
talks about allocating equal time slots for each driver in the race?
Does this mean that I can't race simultaneously with another human
opponent over the modem? In ICR2, both drivers can be on the track
driving and crashing around? Is this possible in GP2? Is it referring
only to qualifying?

It would suck if we had to take "turns" driving? I mean, whats the
point if you can't race neck and neck with another human opponent?

Hot seating can be a lot of fun. My "boyz" and their
friends do it so they race as a "team". Heck, even
my daughter and here friend are getting in on it.
Sheez, girls racing F1 cars...oh noooooooo.....(G).
Bottom line, the game/sim has a lot in it for everyone.
I've NEVER had a game on my two machines that gets as
much play/use as GP2, with the possible exception of
Transport Tycoon.

I think this is for hotseating - two players on one computer. Over the
modem you both play simultaneously.

I think you are referring to multi-player one computer mode.  It's sorta
like pinball with 2 players where you rotate turns.

You can of course race simultaniously over a modem or a direct connect setup.
I've done it myself. With modems the game is a little slow even on the fastest possible
com speed, but I would think that a direct connect game would be much smoother.
When mentioning number of turns and so on, the manual refers to a multiplayer
game on ONE machine.

the manual is referring to multiplayer using only one computer.. its
impossible to have simultaneous play on one computer.  with two
computers, one person may drive on each at any given time.  you can have
more than 1 person on each and take turns for 4 player or whatnot but i
dont think that would be as fun.
