GRT2002 is even better than GPL

That's exactly my point Jan.  You're still playing GPL, and I would bet
only because you can race it online as above.  The same can't be said of any
offline sim, and so none of them have ever had the lifetime of any online
sim.

I'm sure it's a fine piece of work.  Incredible job without question.  And
I bet in a year or two, maybe less, it'll be history because of no online
capability to speak of.

The West's?  ??????? Who the heck ..............

Oh yea I remember them, the producers of the "WORLDS FINEST VAPORWARE"

Was wondering how long it would take for someone to play the "WEST" card

Yeah, but it's still NASCAR...

I agree, Jan. I have been somewhat skeptical of the capability of the F1-200X
engines as a basis for that elusive feel that GPL has (to me) had exclusive
rights. The quality of the AI out of the box meant those sims neither hacked it
as a single player or multiplayer.

I have tried the previous F1-2001 mods and whilst being impressed with the sheer
hard work, the end result was that GPL still had the feel factor. F1 2002 didn't
seem to cure my feelings on F1-2001 as an F1 sim anyway.

I half heartedly downloaded the GTR2002 mod, deciding it would be worth a go,
and like most here have been more than impressed - despite only a short time to
try it. Clearly the engine does have the capability for modders who know what
they are doing - and have taken it far beyond the original developers.

For me the best first impression since the GPL demo over 4 years ago.

My brief experience suggested the AI are well improved - any views to back this?

Cheers

Tony

Whos community is a drop in the bucket compared to any online sim, new or old.

They are likening the shape of the cars in GPL to that of a water heater (on
its side instead of vertically mounted, probably) or a kazoo, Gerry.

Maybe now, but it used to be huge.  Even just a year ago there were many
more web sites for SCGT than for GPL, and hundreds if not thousands of
add on cars and tracks.  Keep in mind GTR 2002 is the heir of SCGT in
more ways than one.  The game in which you are running it is the latest
and most refined version of the SCGT engine, and the GTR mod itself
started life as a conversion of SCGT cars models.

Hmmmm..........I doubt that, but whatever.  "Used to be" says it all.
Compare it to the other most popular online sims, the Nascar series, (any
one at it's time) especially in user numbers.

So the gentleman won't race in a car he doesn't like the look of. How
silly.

I don't know of any reliable way to compare user numbers.  Not just for
SCGT, but I'm not sure that you can really estimate it for GPL either.
All I know is that there was more material available for SCGT, which
implies more users.  And the reason there "was" more and isn't now is
that most of those people moved on to do stuff for the F1 2KX series.
GPL never had a follow up, thus nobody has moved on.

Ah yes, the young gentleman should look at the GPLEA cars, they would
cure his foolishness!
