Ooops - if only I could improve my real GPL laps using typos :)

Yup, sorry, actual PB 3:20.32 (slinking away embarrassed...)

p.s. I did have a PB of 6.20 seconds at Monza for a while due to an
advantageous on-line warp.

I don't think it's needed. I find the racing groove is a good idea of
when to brake, apart from Club corner where I use the crowd on the left
as a marker.

I guess that's part of the problem, I have to turn crowds off to get 36 fps
on my PII 333 Voodoo3 setup (:

I use the groove too, which is a bad habit. When I get nose-to-tail with
somebody in an online race I often miss braking points because the car in
front hides the groove.

Bingo!  I mentioned that last year.  If you use the groove and you're following
another car, you either miss the braking point and possibly crash, or ease off
early, and lose ground... :(

Yes, but if you're off your normal driving line then *any* braking point
is not going to be in the usual place relative to the car and you're
going to have to compensate for it no matter what.  All-in-all braking
off line is much, much more difficult to judge.

Sure, but if I'm offline, side-by-side, then the other car isn't obscuring the
groove.  I can still see it, and I just have to brake a touch earlier.  Or not,
if it's the last lap.<g>

IMO the look left & right is a very useful feature
in GPL, but is a bit
disorienting, I've often thought it would have
been nice to be able
to configure it to your own taste with a couple of
lines in core.ini
to change degrees of rotation & speed of pan.

I presume these are set in gpl.exe, maybe someone
(i.e. not me,
I wouldn't know where to start) could right a util
similar to GEM to do this.
