If you look in your N3 folder, there are 2 files named calib.val and
controller.cfg (or something, I'm at work and don't have it installed
here :-), delete these 2 files and try setting up your controller again
in N3......

Beers and cheers

The guy in Electronics Botique told me there are problems with the Microsoft
wheels and Windows 98, 2nd edition.. perhaps if you are using that operating
system it has something to do with it..

good luck,
Andrew

Just a thought. Have you tried to and edit the profiles or create on totally
in the control panel? Make that profile active and N3 should recognize it.

I am running Win98se and have a MSFF wheel.  It works fine.

Make sure you are using a compatible profile in your sidewinder software.
The Nascar II profile works great.

When you are in N3, make sure you have DirectX selected as your joystick
driver.

Re-calibrate the wheel from within N3. It uses the calibration for both
joysticks.

Also, the MSFF wheel does not work correctly with Win2K, in case that's your
OS.

Hmm, lets see, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 on Ms FF Wheel all
tested fine.  Though, you must make sure you wheel is recognized and
activated in the control panel joystick control settings.  if active, in n3,
make sure you do calibrate both 1 and 2 calibration choices, and then start
selecting the options using the DirectX device system

I presume you remembered to calibrate the wheel in N3 as well and assigned
all the functions properly.  Try switching to combined axis on the pedals as
well.

I have the SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel (USB) as well as a MS
SideWinder 3D Pro Joystick connected to the game port.  You must
reassign the controller you wish to use to controller ID 1...the
default for most games.  Open the SideWinder Game Controller Software
and you'll find the selection under the advanced tab.

Yea, and I should just add, you have to do it every time you reboot
the computer too. Why-oh-why can't MS fix this annoyance???
