A couple questions about Superbike 2001

by Tex » Thu, 22 Mar 2001 16:58:13

I dl'ed the demo to EA's Superbike 2001 earlier this evening, as I had heard
good things about it and wanted some variety after spinning out at the 'ring
for the 100th time today.  I have to say I'm very impressed by the graphics
and the sense of speed.  My questions before I buy:

1 - What tracks are included in the full game?  I've searched the web and
can't find a complete list.

2 - Are all the tracks of as high a quality as Hockenheim?

3 - Why aren't the graphics in F1CS2k this good?  Both games are published
by EA, and even though they're developed by different teams, I would think
there could be some kind of cooperation between the 2.  After racing
Hockenheim in the SB2001 demo, I went back and ran it in F1CS2k, and the
graphics and performance are so much worse it's barely even comparable.  I'm
just blown away.

4 - Is there any reason I should NOT buy this game?

I really want to buy this game, but I don't want to be disappointed as I
have with a couple of other racing games that have looked promising but
turned out to be less than I hoped for.  Thanks for any help!

I am not aware of ANY PCI device that would perform what you are asking.
The PDP4 is an ISA only part as far as I know.  The SBlive is 'supposed' to
have
one of the better digital gameports...Can't think of anything right now for
a non-ISA
system.  Does CH products still make gamecards?

From my understanding...SB2k+1 uses the Need For Speed: Porche Unleashed
engine.  Since that has been widely accepted as a pretty decent physics
package with
stunning graphics, thats why the Bike racing looks so good.  F1cs2k was made
by
another group, one that originally made SCGT, and you can see alot of SCGT
in
the first two offerings of F1.

Ditto Dave,
I keep wondering the same thing Dave!!! I have both SBK 2000 & 2001
& in 2000 I thought it was impossible for graphics to get any better. Then
2001 "happily" proved me wrong!! <g> Now EA makes all these sims so
why in the "H" does F1-2000 & F1CS2000 suck? Dumb move on EA's
end..phew. I would love to just put the cars into SBK and race there and
then dump F1-2000 or F1CS2000 as their graphics sux! Btw: If you will
also notice that the FPS is better in both SBKs. Doesnt make any sense?
A Patch for all the F1 cars to be converted into SBK would be fantastic!
Any ideas out there "PC Programming Graphic Sim Gurus"? Hell lets put
Lemans cars in there too!! Wow!! <G>
Cheers Thom_j.
