N4-World Detail

Reading a thread in a forum on the High Gear web site  got me to thinking
about the option 'World Detail' in N4. What exactly does it do, because it
sure is a CPU hog. Someone suggested that at a high setting it draws objects
that are not even in view. Is this true, and how low can I set this option
and still have maximum benefit from it?

Thanks

Just look in distance and compare 100% vs. zero.  You'll immediately notice
the difference.  It's the amount of detail from polygon models at distance,
a global percentage on how much detailed they are at distance.

It draws more detail, and yes, it is one of the best ways to increase
framerates by lowering it.
Drive a few laps at high world detail and notice some of the small things,
like where the track meets the apron. Blends in nice and smooth. Now turn a
few laps with world detail turned way down and notice the difference, more
of a pronounced transition between the track and apron.

Look at the wheels at low detail...they will become square.

Dave,
Those must be the Cro-Magnon wheels.... :-)
