Everyone,

I tested this game the hole time it was being developed. I was using a
Monster 3D  at first with a rendition 1000 chipset viedo card. I replaced it
with a STB 128. the STB 128 is the card all the programers had. All of them
were using it, so they programed it around that card. As you can tell some
people are having good success with that riva chipset. I also noticed alof
of people are having some problems with others.

rrevved,

I'm using an F22 Pro and the brakes are fine (although I would totaly
agree we should have the pedals).. I'm able to apply a touch of brakes at
high speed without crashes. In the "manual" they recommend that you let the
chute slow the car down considerably before application of the brakes. This
game, like every game I have purchased this year is another Beta product for
public consumption. I still like it .....I guess the game industry has
softened me up a bit.....I'm defending a beta product! The major thing that
bothers me about this game is the fact that I can't run it in anything over
640x480. With a 19 inch monitor, 640x480 just don't cut it! The graphics
environment in this game is not overly complex and I'm a little pissed that
Tantrum is not utilizing the Voodoo 2 chipset to it's fullest. At least
800x600 would have been nice!  Look at the graphics in F1RS's  or Andretti
Racing (horrible physics) for that matter. Much more complex IMO and they
really deliver the eye candy on the Voodoo 2. I guess we can't have it all.
Shit...I want it all.

Did you buddy use the chute to slow down the car before
hitting the brakes? That is what everyone is telling you.
And you know what? It makes sense to me. No real driver
will slam on the brakes on at 300mph. Unless of course
hit chute craps out ant that is the only other option. This
seems kind of similar to doing things no real pilot would
do. And I know you know what I mean by that :-)

OK well was the beta using the 3dfx at all for 3D? I have checked
the box out at a local Electronic Boutique. I believe this is a Direct3D
only game.

That was real genius on the programmers part then. I don't know anyone that
owns one of those new fangled 3Dfx cards, I must be the only one that has
one. You don't just develop around the one piece of hardware you happen to
have on hand and I am sure they could have gotten some reference boards from
3Dfx or someone. So I guess we should be like you and all go out and buy a
Riva 128, better yet why doesn't Tantrum just package one with their game.

3Dfx cards work great in Direct3D. Unless the programmers are breathing too
many fumes from Funny cars and do a***poor job of implementing Direct3D.

Greg,

I was pushing the Tantrum people too really concentrate their efforts on the
3DFX chipset, as most of us sim players have them. But i cant speak for them
, and its really wasnt developed around that chipset.

So much for the NHRA beta testers influencing the game. Burnout's
testers blew you right out of the water on this one. Plus they are
all over this NG (up everyones rear) being so helpful to get their
game running, that it is enough to make you puke. However
after the big smelly turd that NHRA appears to be, I do appreciate
those guys and their efforts more. I still think their game sucks
though :-)

i don't think i've ever seen a better response to any post on usenet.
period.

it's shocking that this game that i've waited a few months for isn't able
to use the $300 Voodoo 2 card i have, even though the 12mb of video memory
on it should be able to run full textures and then some.

my copy is going back to Computer City tomorrow.  maybe after the first
nine or ten patches it'll be worth picking up out of the bargain software
bin again.

if you have an agp slot buy a 8mb agp card with 8mb and the intel i740 chipset
i got mine
for 55 bucks!!!!

the game runs great with it and you can still
use your 3dfxcard for all the other games that support it
