I just purchased the Logitech FF Wheel and I have been testing it with
various games.  So far I like it but I don't really feel the car breaking
loose in GPL or Viper racing.  Are there any settings we can adjust to
increase this sensation?  Also with Viper, I assume its a software thing, I
dont get the bump sensation when hitting other cars.  My car, or theirs,
will spin, but I dont get a contact bump like in GPL.  NFS III does the same
thing.  Also I don't get a good weight tranfer feeling with the wheel.  I
hope I'm not expecting too much. I had just read how people could feel the
car getting loose and was looking forward to it.  I have done the
auto-update and I have increased the effect percentages through the control
panel.  I was hoping there might be something in the ini file we could
adjust.  If anyone has some good settings I sure wouldn't mind trying them
out.  Thanks.

Have you updated the Profiler software (3.25 is the latest version) and
played with the force adjustments in the Profiler software and in the GPL
core.ini file? I agree with your assessment of the effects in Viper, but
I've not made it my goal to bump into the other cars<g>. I thought the
overall effects in VR were very good but GPL raises the bar somewhat higher.
After driving GPL for 8 months with the LWFF and no effects, I was and am
still astounded by the change. Through the wheel, I can feel the front of
the car lose grip, the rear of the car sliding, the best curb and "edge of
the track" effects and combined with a good graphics card at higher
resolutions, I can see and feel every bump and ripple in the track. At the
Glen, I can feel the crown in the road as I angle across the track, on the
pit straight at Monza the car wiggles and shakes as it passes over the
cracks in the old track surface and I swear I can feel sand all over the
damn track at Zandvoort<g>!

Papy is to be commended for a job well done. IMO anyway...

Don,

I have the LWFF too and would like to know how your settings are in both the
Wingman's properties and in the core.ini!

Thanx,

Jan.

Guys,

I have three LWFF at home. Testing them, yeah that's it testing them. Well,
ALL LWFF wheels (and probably other brands) react differently. Using the
same settings in windows and the core.ini gave me a totally different feel
in GPL. And again, this is using the EXACT same brand of wheel. So, trading
core.ini setting is kind of worthless. It does help to get you in the
ballpark for settings but they will feel different from Wheel to Wheel(same
brand). So no matter what, you will need to do some tweaking in the
core.ini. The setting that seems to get them to react similarly is the
latency setting.

Matter of fact, one of the LWFF wheels I have just plain sucks. It gives me
odd pulls that the other two wheels just don't do. So if you suspect after
lots and lots of tweaking that your wheel isn't working as you had hoped,
you may want to take yours back and try another of the same brand.

Good Luck!
Wayne

All of my friends who play gpl have the logitec wheel, so I tested
them all. They ALL react the same (7 logitec wheels in total) using
the same core.ini. I think that two of your wheels are bad
manufactured or something like that.
All logitec wheels should react the same.

Ah... NO!!! I don't buy it. Maybe they are bad. But I bought each wheel from
a different place and they DO act TOTALLY different so to say they act the
same is COMPLETELY false cause I have proof sitting in my house right now.
So who's to say others don't have the same issue. My statement stands as
completely true and something that others SHOULD consider.

Ok, I believe you. The only thing I'm saying is that all the 7 wheels
I tested act absolutely the same way with the same core.ini.
And they were bought at different places.
Perhaps someone with some technical knowledge of the LWFF can tell us
if it's possible that some lwff react differently because of different
internal parts or something?

What if you're both right? Or both wrong? Regardless, I agree that each
person should tweak the settings to find what feels best to *them*.

Jan,

I can tell you what I'm using now, but it may be completely different come
Sunday. I'm still playing with the settings and as I try different chassis,
I find that I like slightly different degrees of force or dampening with
each one.

At this time, driving the Eagle chassis,

Profiler Settings:

Seperate Axis...duh  ;-)

Overall effects    140%
Spring effect       100%
Damper effect    130%

Enable Centering Spring UNchecked
Centering Spring Strength    0%

In the Axis Properties for the Wheel, Accelerator and Brake, I have the Dead
Zone at Low  for all three and the sensitivity for the Wheel at the notch
between Med and High, while the Brake and Throttle are set at Med.

Paddles set as shift up and shift down

Unshifted Commands:
Button 3 - Clutch
Button 5 - Look Left
Button 6 - Look Right
Button 4 - SHIFT

Shifted Commands:
Left Paddle - Escape
Right Paddle - Enter
Button 3 - F-10
Button 5 - Shift-R
Button 6 - Alt-F

Core.ini:

allow_force_feedback = 1
force_feedback_damping = 40.000000
force_feedback_latency = 0.085000
max_steering_torque = 200.000000

These settings are so personal and according to at least one person here,
vary from wheel to wheel, they are not set in stone and frankly, you'd be
nuts not to play with the settings yourself.

Hope this helps :-)
