One patch that might be useful for GPL would be the ability to see other
driver's raised arms in spite of you having your own virtual arms and wheel
tuned off.

Many drivers do go to the trouble of raising their arms to wave a behind
driver past without contest, or to indicate some kind of caution, but many
other drivers have their own virtual arms & wheel turned off as they find
them distracting. The problem is that the two elements are tied together in
GPL. Once you turn your own arms off you cant see anyone else's arms either.

If the two could be untied, so that you could turn your own arms off, but
still be able raise your own arm ( all-be-it unseen ) and still see the
raised arms of other drivers then that may be a useful aid for online
racing.

Regards

Phillip

Truthfully, if you still need to turn off the arms to make GPL run
effectively on your system, you've got way bigger problems

news.ops.worldnet.att.net:

I've found it's not the system problems that cause most drivers to turn
off the arms, but USER problems.  They look at their wheel for some reason
instead of the screen.
Interesting concept though..he nobly seeks to improve the racing
experience of others, but all the while not inconviencing himself.

Funny, here I was all this time looking at the track ahead of the car instead of
watching either wheel.  FWIW I turned off the in-car arms because it was
distracting to see something flailing about just below my line of sight.
However had no idea this prevented others from seeing a raised arm. Thanks for
the info.

It doesnt prevent others from seeing raised arms in races, just you, and
anyone else who has shut off the arms in their version of the game.

And your point is? Did you read the above post? Re-read it, properly,
please!

It's amazing how many times someone states something clearly... i.e.
"> > other drivers have their own virtual arms & wheel turned off as they
find

Yet people STILL manage to misinterpret it.

I suppose expecting people to read a post before replying to it is too much
to ask ! ;-)

Oh, well then if it's not affecting what others see then really it comes down to
the driver if they can live without them or not. Thanks for the clarification.

We are BUSY people Richard,  BUSY BUSY BUSY!  Yes sometimes we do
misread stuff, sometimes we do rush through things, sometimes we just
don't understand the question.
  BUT!

That NEVER stopped me from giving what "I" think should be the proper
answer anyhow.  :)    As 'they' say...Free advice is only worth what you
paid for it.

Hell I'd be happy if I could see the other guy raising his arm at all!
and I have mine turned on!

Actually I wish somebody would reverse engineer the code that the
server uses to assign car numbers.  If we had predictible car numbers
you could have a car set for each league so you could recognize each
other.

I've been told it was impossible but that's what I heard about the F65
mod too... ;)

Just wanted to make sure he can read and understand messages himself. ;)
