GPL - Many disco's lately

by Olav K. Malm » Tue, 11 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hello,

As I was racing hard for 6th at Monaco in the IGPLC2-F3 league yesterday, my
connection broke down, leaving me with no points again.

This has happened a lot lately since I installed WinVROC 2.1. Before that I
used to have rock solid connection with my ISDN-modem, but now I hardly finish
any race at VROC because of disconnection.

The weird this is that every time i get discoed and GPL returns to windows I
have to dialup again. The whole internet-connection goes down which I find
pretty weird. Is this normal ?

Anyway, has anyone else here had disco problems since installing WinVROC 2.1 ?
Will WinVROC 2.0 still work ?

Thanks...

They (Larry H., et al) say WinVROC is gone when you are running
GPL, and I tend to believe them (they should know, right? :).  The
fact that you have to re-dial your ISP sure makes it sound to me like
ISP and/or ISDN line problems.

D'oh, I have set it for auto disconnect because me and my flatmates often
forget to log off, pretty easy when using ISDN when the phone still works.

But i thought the data-exchange was enourmous when racing GPL online, how can
that be idle ? Is it because i'm not clicking anything in the browser that
isn't even opened ?

I think windows only see's keyboard and mouse actions as being in use, the
data throughput isnt checked.

You are very correct. Yesterday I shut off the 20 minutes auto-disconnect and
had two wonderful disco-free races at Talladega and Monza.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
