Online racing for two players

Hi,

I'm trying to link up with my nephew to race over the internet for a
two player game (where I host the game and email him my IP address for
him to join the session)

Am I right in thinking all of the following games can do this. What
kind of performance can we expect. Are there any other racing games
that have this feature ?

TOCA
TOCA2
Ultimate Race Pro
Rally masters
Viper racing
GPL
F12001

Thanks,
Ian

TBH, Ian, these days it might be quicker to make a list of those that DON'T
have this option.
GP3, for example...but in reality, most do nowadays.

I've never tried F1 2001 multiplayer (heard it sux), but noticed that
you can't race any AI cars. Anyone know if this will change for F1
2002?

not that I'm aware of ...since each car 'seems' to need over 100
kbs(unlike papyrus' 21.9), adding AI cars would most likely ruin the multi
even further.
At least I'll say this about the ISI multi.  With SCGT and F1 2000, you
all had to wait in a chat lobby before qualifying and racing, there was NO
practice.  This is one area of improvement, you can now turn laps while
waiting for everyone to join, however the little screen hiccups when
somebody new joins are pretty tough if you are in a turn.

Point taken. My list was just a list of those games with multiplayer
that I own. I suppose what I should have asked is which games make the
best job of it. I've searched the archives but most discussions of
multiplayer *** in this group are for Nascar games or VROC.

Thanks,
Ian

Papy, Codemasters and Ratbag make the best lag-free games, I think. Rally
Masters works, as do others (STCC, etc), but basically CERTAINLY the first
two, and mostly the third do good multi.

Need for Speed/Porsche Unleashed also has this.
This game features sprints over road courses that
usually take 2 to 4 minutes.

The Internet NFS/PU has a nice community.
