Thanks for the timely reply. I tried all night to sort this one out but
unfortunately I'm still stuck...
In my original post I stated that I could force it to 4020-????. Currently
with auto settings turned off the card is happily working at I/O 4000-4027
and IRQ 10. The SB Emulation side is working at I/O1050-1057. The problem
is not that it doesnt work right in windows, it is that when it runs SBEINIT
You cannot turn this off whatsoever.
I have deleted the Autoexec.bat and removed the SBEINIT file from the
Program files\creative\sblive\dosdrv\ directory but it still initializes the
there is a ctsyn.ini file in Windows that contains port information but it
re-writes this as well. I have tried the SBSET -w0 command as well with no
luck.
I am at wit's end... is there anyone out there that can help with this
problem?
TIA

It isnt that I am getting a conflict so to speak.... it is when I look at
the resources of the card it is telling me that windows does not recognize
the resources this device is using and that it is not a known configuration.
It then says check the manually configure button to manually assign
resources. Once you do it assigns the card to a known range usually around
I/O 4000-4047 and IRQ 10. It then asks you to reboot. Once you do it goes
right back to where it was. You can manually force the card to an I/O range
with no conflicts but when you boot up hit the ESC key during the Win98 or
plugged into.
From the sounds of things you too are in the same boat as me. To clear the
IRQ 9 conflict simply pull the card out from where it is and move it to
another slot. I found that if you count the PCI slots that start directly
below the AGP slot (the first being 1) the first slot will have IRQ 11 and
the next will be IRQ 10 or 11 and the next one again will be 10 or 9. and
the furthest slot from the AGP will always be IRQ 9.
I cannot use the image file Richard.. that got corrupt a short time after
purchasing the system.
