F1RS and tnt mouse problem

by Rocco Dimas » Sat, 09 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hello there,
I have recently purchased a ASUS AGP-V3400TNT with tv out,
When trying to play Formula One Racing Simulation the mouse clicks stop
working(ie you click on the buttons in the game and nothing happens).
Sometimes you can click a few buttons and even finish playing the game,
others you can't even start to play. Very strange problem.
I think it has something to do with the TNT because it worked
fine with the Banshee I had before, everytime I think I have solved it,
it comes back. Has anyone had this or similar problem?

TIA

Rocco Dimase

F1RS and tnt mouse problem

by msbzdr.. » Tue, 12 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi

I don't have a solution, but I do have exactly the same symptoms.  Game
worked ok with an ATI Rage Pro, but once I installed my Hercules
Dymanite TNT2 Ultra card, I can no longer click on menu options.
Occasionally a mouse click will get through, but overall I've not once
managed to get further than the main menu.  Can't do anything but power
the PC off and restart...

HELP!!! :)

Cheers

Yep.  Pretty pitiful performance on Ubisoft's part, really.  I'll never
buy another of their programs, as they've had literally *months* to fix
this, yet they've chosen not even to acknowledge the problem exists.

I managed to get the program to run *slightly* longer (ie. I could get
through all the menus if I was *quick*, before it crashed) by setting
the graphics card to Hardware Acceleration:Most - it was still
playable, but the graphics looked pretty dismal, particularly the
horizon.  Game still got stuck in the menus after a minute or two...

Worse still, having gotten it working to this point, I found out that
it also doesn't work with my Logitech Wingman Formula USB.  Everything
is set up right, the wheel works with other games, and is set up
correctly in F1RS, but when I get into the game, the pedals do nothing
at all, and the gear shifters accelerate/decelerate.  Couldn't find out
what would change gear, so was unable to do more than see that the game
could *easily* be fixed by Ubisoft, if they could be bothered.  It was
nice and smooth, no huge problems with graphics or anything, just
annoying glitches like a sort of white "halo" around buildings on the
horizon, etc.

Anyway, long and the short of it, Ubisoft F1 Racing Simulation is a
useless heap of sh*t, and nobody should buy it or support a company
that can't even be bothered to make its products work.  My copy went
out in the trash yesterday - considered giving it away on Ebay or to a
friend, but decided that nobody should have such a poor program
inflicted on them.
