have listened to them drunk as listen to the coverage ABC provided. Just
sad. "Here's David Coulthard and ... another driver." Sheesh!

For all their emphasis on British drivers (who really cares about Nick
Heidfeld or Jensen Button?) those guys just mean "F1" to me.

Except Heidfeld is German.
"For all their emphasis on European drivers..." ;o)
And their constant "requests" to the US TV producer (who obviously couldn't
hear them) to see more of Montoya and Barrichello, when the camera was
following M Schumacher etc.
"For all their emphasis on international drivers..." :oD
To be fair they do commentate a lot (too much) on Jensen and Eddie etc,
Heidfeld is/was a point of particular interest as he'd qualified up n past
the McLarens, and has been leapfrogged to a seat next to Coulthard next year
by a clearly inferior driver (Reikkonen). So it was a good story to follow.
<ras bait>
At least the race was interesting, not like the CART at Rockingham, I fell
asleep watching that one.
</ras bait>
cheers

This is the first F1 race I ever watched start to finish; I've never been
interested enough to get up at some god-awful hour in the AM to watch the
others (the times aren't very convenient for a Western Canadian...)

Let Jim Clark play GPL for 3 weeks and he would probably come to the same
conclusion that Jackie Stewart did.
Give him as much time as those guys have had and he would mop the floor with
them. He's not where he is because of luck or money.
VROC drivers can practice without fear - they can push the limits in their
spare time without any dramatic consequences.
Anyone who devotes so much time to GPL has to be lacking a certain amount of
intelligence - intelligence that's almost certainly needed to be competitive
in F1.

And that onboard footage of Montoya sideways!, Awesome stuff, quick
hands...:)

That race did get pretty dreary, but they have made the track 1/2 a
mile too short for a good race. Compare with Germany before...
That said, that was one hell of a final few laps. For a race with so
little overtaking, the end was sensational.

Some other driver was able to finish the distance in less time, duh ;)
That's a joke, no?
Because F1 is about drivers _AND_ technology. Always was, always will be.
Stop being over-sentimental. The sport has changed forever and will never
be the same. Accept, or move on.
