Restarting in F1RS (and other woes)

Anyone know how to get the restart option to work while racing in
grand prix mode on f1rs?? im sick of crashing on the first corner
all the time and waiting for the painfully slow menus to restart
(not to mention waiting for the computer to 'finish' each race lap
by lap.. can you abort this???)

the restart is there on the option menu but does nothing.. (works
in ghost training mode tho)

while we're at it.. does anyone have ANY clue what all those buttons
at the bottom of the garage menus are?? the one where there are
two buttons for 'before race' and 'race' setup, then two arrow buttons
and one round button.. they seem to to jack s**t and of course the
very helpful (NOT) ubisoft manual sees fit to overlook them..

last but not least, any way to make your own garage setup always
come up as default for a particular track rather than the inbuilt
default and having to load a setup every time???

***y french, no idea about practicalities, wheres gp3!! forget that..
wheres REVS II!!!! (THE best racing game every in a pure racing sense)

The "before race" button shows values for practice and qualifying setup.
The "race button" will show values for race setup. The round button sets
the values on each screen to the default values. Pressing the ------>
arrow button will transfer pre-race setup values to the race setup. This
must be done for each screen (i.e., steering, fuel, wings, etc.). The
<------ arrow button will transfer race setup values to the pre-race
setup (useful for if you've downloaded a race setup and want to use the
values during practice or qualifying).

Restart doesn't work in Grand Prix mode.  This adds realism to the game.  If
you crash, you have go through the entire qualifying session again.  It
makes the race much more interesting if you have a huge penalty for
crashing.  If you want restart enabled, you can always race in the "simple
race" mode.

No, unfortunately, the game doesn't remember the last setup you used for a
track.
