Saitek R4 Wheel questions...

by Aus » Sat, 20 May 2000 04:00:00

Hi all,

Anybody seen/used/own this wheel (both force feedback and normal)?

I'm looking at a cheapish wheel but while this one looks great, most reviews
have a gripe about it, particular the play in the wheel at centre position,
but most only review the FFB version not the normal one.  Anyone got
anything to comment on it?

I'm a sim player (gp2, F1RS2, ICRII etc) not so much NFS styles.

Thanks in advance..
John Book.

Saitek R4 Wheel questions...

I have the FF version.

Wheel is great, as it was the only FF wheel I could see with both paddles &
gear knob.

Pedals are not so goot, take some getting used to after my old T2. But now I
love the whole thing.

Any more questions mail me direct.

Steve

Saitek R4 Wheel questions...

Hi,

I'm using the R4 FF wheel in GPL, SCGT, and also ICR2.

It's pretty good - the real reason I bought in preference to the others was
that it has both paddles, and the normal gear lever.
I was disappointed at first, but that was because the manual suggested
setting max. force - I dropped it off a bit and it's much better. Throttle
pedal could be better, and the pedal box could generally do with being
larger.

However, I have to say that I haven't tried the Logitech, and I've only
tried the MS one briefly (though the Saitek has MS internals, if the labels
on the wheel are to be believed)

The real pain is the massive mains adaptor, and general cabling - makes it a
bit restrictive.

Apart from that, I like it!!

Regards
Jeremy
