Changing NASCAR car numbers

Changing NASCAR car numbers

Thanks to some very helpful posts, I am now able to move some cars
around in the various car sets that I've collected. It's great to
see Davey and Alan racing with that #42 Peak car! Thanks to someone
for the many hours that it must have taken to make that '90 carset.

However, which file do I need to edit to get the correct car number
to show up in the standings and driver lists? I know how to change
the driver name in the driver info area, but where do you change the
car number used in the text files?  For example, if I place the 42 car
in a slot that used to have the 31 car in it, all of the lists
displayed during the race will show Kyle Petty driving car #31.

It won't make me go any faster, but it will make me feel better.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to edit the drivers2.txt file in the directory that matches
your car set.  For information on what the numbers mean refer (but don't
edit) the drivers.txt file.

Go ahead and mix 'em up.....

You want to edit the drivers2.txt file.  You can make one just by going
into the game and changing the default player's driver to your name (if
you haven't already done this).  Then you can use any text editor to
change the file to your satisfaction.  Oh, you might want to read the
original drivers.txt file *before* attempting to edit any of the
performance numbers.
