Could someone recommend a good book that is in print with driving and set
up tips relevant to the ''67 GP cars featured?

Thanks.

The Grand Prix Legends Manual that comes with the game (sim!)..
From what I've heard it is a VERY THICK book, with lots of photos, and is
VERY detailed..
I believe it will tell you exactly what each "tweak" will do to your car.

Should be worth the price of the product itself!

An info tid-bit...The manual was penned by none other than Steve Smith,
which should make for some fun and informative reading!  =)

Cheers!

Marc

"In print"?
Sorry, Jim....no such animal.

I suggest that you might want to browse the appropriate section at
Amazon.  They may have something that would be suitable.

That's okay, I don't imagine he's very familiar with you either ;-)

Ex editor of Car and Driver magazine (and many others), wrote the ICR2
stratgey guide for Papy (and many others), been involved in racing
longer than I've been alive and raced a fair bit himself.

Cheers!

No....I meant that there was no historic tome given over to this
subject.
The fact that the with-game manual has been written in 1998 (and as
informative as it no doubt will be) is not quite the same as something
penned by an actual race engineer back in 1967.

Steve probably wrote it back in 1967 - he was old even then...!

(Sorry Steve..!) :-)

Former editor for Car & Driver, Road & Track.

"Winning" was the guide included in the latest incarnation of ICR2, AKA:
CART Racing.

Tid-bit #2:
The book "Winning" was so hacked-up by the Papy-editors, that Smith
nearly hung-up his pen (i.e: retired and almost didn't do the one for
GPL).  Sierra/Papyrus was a bit more relaxed in the GPL manuscript,
and aside from not being able to use the name "Ferrari" is more-or-less
intact (Sierra hadn't secured the license by the time the manuscript
was finished).

Cheers!

Don't forget the video "Drive to Win,"  one of the most informative and
entertaining yet on how to drive a car (especially open wheelers with skinny
tires and no aerodynamic downforce devices - Formula Fords) fast around a
racetrack.  The video is a real gem, in essence a three-day Jim Russel
school on tape. Should be available from Classic Motorbooks.

This is the Tamiya model?...I heard it's pretty sweet!  Hasagawa has
released one from the golden years as well (perhaps old news...I don't
get out much<g>) of a '65 Honda F1 (I think).

Cheers!

I have a small collection of kits from MODELERS from Japan, and
wondered if the company still exists?  They were never imported
here to the states in great numbers, and the price was a bit high,
but wonderful kits nonetheless.  Most of these are in the form
of the F-3000 series.

I've also got a few of the old MPC GT-40 kits, and...er...Hmmm...

...Time to grab the flashlight and go diggin' in the garage...

Cheers!
