By a strange set of circumstances, I've come into possession of two
copies of the 1967-68 edition of Automobile Year (#15). For those of you
not familiar with AY, it's a large-format annual that began as Automobile
Review in 1953, and has been published by Edita Lausanne (Switzerland)
every year since. Before there was an Autocourse or any of the other F1
annuals familiar today, there was AY. Beautiful black & white and color
photography by the greats of the day -- Yves Debraine, Bernard Cahier,
Rainer Schlegelmilch, Gunther Molter, Geoffrey Goddard, Snowdon,
Alexander, Klementaski -- and complete accounts of each GP race, as well
as the major endurance events (LeMans, Daytona, Sebring, Targa,
Nurburgring). This issue covers the 1967 season, with great shots of all
the cars, drivers, and tracks so familiar from GPL (except, of course, it
has the miserable Mickey Mouse "Bugatti" course at LeMans for that year's
French GP).

Usually I put my extras on Ebay, but I'm willing to sell this mint issue
to anyone here for exactly what I paid: $51 plus shipping. Given the
usual going price for Automobile Years of this vintage, it's a bargoon.

If interested, contact me here at deja, or at my regular email address:

Thanks

Yeah, I read it twice - great book!

I especially loved the part where that girl eats the stuff that tastes like
a whole meal, then she blows up into that blueberry. Then, those little
orange guys sing that stupid song and roll her out!

I laughed, and laughed, and laughed.

Yeah, but how about the part right after that where the giant bulldozer
squashes the little orange guys into MinuteMaid and the blueberry girl
turns into Shiva, the Destroyer of Worlds? Now THAT'S cool!

Jesse is my hero<g>. I've had the pleasure of knowing him for about 25 years
and I just can't say enough about the man. His work speaks for itself,
http://www.racesimcentral.net/'s a really great guy too. I met him
when I was a young photography student and thought I was going to take the
Grand Prix world by storm with my brilliant images<vbg>, Jess brought me
gently down to earth and explained the realities of professional motorsports
photography and business. What he taught me came in handy over the years as
I made my way through this business. A couple of years ago I had the honor
of being included in a New York museum exhibit on Photojournalism and
Motorsports with him, without a doubt, the highpoint of my career!

The number of the edition is allways mentioned in the book.
