Well folks,
I don't know if a similar thing has already been said but...I was
just checking out the Papy website when lo-and-behold they are
advertising "Screen shot for our upcoming Nascar Racing 3 Craftsman
Trucks Expansion pack". Now normally I don't *** about the software
companies trying to make a buck off of us poor schmoes, but come on!
Enough is enough!

I think about the work dedicated sim guys have done for free in the past
with N2 bodies and SCGT expansion packs etc,..and this Papy thing just
pisses me off. And now with the release of DTR, that you can pick up
for a mere $20, I can't possibly swallow this tripe that Papy will try
to pass off as an 'improvement' to N3. <sarcasm on> I mean, surely this
wasn't anything that they couldn't have put in N3 for the original
release was it? <sarcasm off> Yes, I think N3 was a great improvement
over N2. I'm not arguing about that, and I know some of you will try to
defend it (like I have in the past) saying well, we will probably get
more tracks too..etc..but frankly I'm sick of their 'cash-cow' scams! I
only wish there was some way we could revolt against them without
slitting our throats over N4.

P.S. If someone knows of a good 3DO editor for N3 (and some background
info on how to use it), I'd be open to trying my hand at creating a new
body style.

This is the Papy that is being forced to make money. The French
Company Havas has Sierra in a *** hold. They have already cut more
than half the programmers in the Sierra umbrella, closed several
studios, even shipped out the Nascar artwork to Russia, and cancelled
many games.
Remember, almost all the free extras comming from SCGT are being done
by private individuals. And don't worry about N3 bodies, I'm sure
experienced hands are hard at work crafting those.

Seems to me though, they're just going to destroy their reputation and lose
valuable followers. *shrug* Beats me!

See I would think that by introducing more games they would make more money,
provided they actually made good titles that people wanted.

Yup I know..that was what I said earlier. I guess that's why I'm so upset.
Companies are getting in the habit of 'copying' the most popular modifications
to racing sims and selling them despite the fact that there may be no marked

Trans Am game...sense a trend?)

Guess I'm just too impatient..I'm part of the 'now' generation. :0)

Keep in mind that Papy is not at fault any more you are for following your
bosses orders.
The visionaries and programmers at Papy have been decimated by some suits
that could care less.
Remember these people do what they do for the love of the game unlike some
stupid bastards whose only concern is the bonus they get for raping......
you get the point.

I can see your point of view on this, but my take is that if Papy
gives me a GPL quality title every so often, I'll buy everything else
they put out as well just to keep them afloat.

IF it's treated as an EXPANSION pack and NOT a separate product and
<ahem> PRICE IT ACCORDINGLY, then I'll probably buy it. I love running the
trucks and I sure miss 'em right now. If it's $20 or less, count me in: I
actually LIKE the idea of add-on packs. I'd also pay another $20 for
another 10-15 tracks (real or fantasy).

We knew it was coming because the tracks had truck files in them already!
Well I will pay for new tracks and hopefully (like with N99) they will have
a rebate for people who bought N3 & NL you never know. Sierra is pretty good
with the rebates.....(I hope!). No matter what way you turn they will always
squeeze an extra buck or two and no one is forcing me to buy it. Oh well
I'll be a sucker ...............
