Rally Trophy! IMHO It is the GPL of Rally games. Try out the demo,

Agreed, Rally Trophy is pretty darn awesome! I got the full version, and I'm
pretty happy with it. The interface is boring as hell though, and you can't
tweak much on the car. The physics are great, but the co-driver is
terrrribly annoying. Also, I'd much prefer to drive NEW rally cars..

I still play Colin McRae Rally 2 more than Rally Trophy..

According to EB, it should be available on 1/15 for $29.99.

There's also Rally Championship Xtreme, the hard-to-find successor to (Mobil
1) Rally Championship, which I loved.

I've been playing RC Xtreme a lot lately, sure is a beautiful game,
and fun to see the parts fall of my car (which happens a lot to me).
Seems ok, but no force feedback, and poor joystick setup (too little
deadzone).   I have yet to see Trophy, gonna download the demo right
now (watching all this rally today on SV is getting my *** up!)

I just got RC Xtreme and Rally Trophy last week.  My first impressions were
that RC Xtreme is pretty much an arcadish type game.  It's quite pretty and
the car damage is cool.  Rally Trophy is more of a sim' also with excellent
graphics, but I'm not 100% convinced about the physics.  I think Rally
Masters feels more realistic to me though I haven't played any of these
games for extended periods...

No FF?  The original RC had one of the better FF implementations--when you
hit the dreaded black ice, the steering would go absolutely dead, just like
the real thing.  Scary.  I just finished a full championship season (the
6-race BRC) in RC...but I had to enable all the cheats to get above 20th
place.  That's okay; RC cheats, too (competitors' times are bogus).

Hi Colin,

Well, Rally Trophy seems to be getting favorable mentions in this NG. It's
already available in your part of the world, we in the colonies have to wait
another week or so. <sigh>
