: One of the games is called RAC Network Q Rally (Or very similar) is new
: out (released in November) and is full price #35 UKpounds.
: The other is by Accolade, is an old game re-released and costs #10
Maybe something is happening here where different versions are being
released in different countries.
I went down to my local software store last night and checkit out what
we are getting in the States. The big title is RALLY!. The publisher
is Accolade. In small type at the top of the box is the logo Network Q
RAC Rally (or something like that). One place wanted $39 and another
wanted $44 for the package.
: Hope this helps, I don't know who wrote the first game and it may well have
: been Accolade but I doubt it severely, I am of course assuming that the
: Accolade game is budget in Canada, since if it is full price that would
: explain a lot of the confusion, but it is 4 years old. The Network Q game
: has a picture of an Escort Cosworth on the front over here, and the Accolade
: has a picture of a Sierra Cosworth!
I have the older game in front of me. It has the Sierra Cosworth (one of
the reasons I like it - I rally an American Sierra over here). The games
plays as RHD.
The one in the store shows examples with LHD, says you can choose your
car from several possibilities, and has the picture of the Cosworth
Escort on the cover. It says that scenes are DIGITIZED from the actual
rally, but the demo pictures on the back show something similar to the
original game.
The game says you need at least a 386 machine, but recommends a 486/66
DX and a Soundblaster PRO.
This would seem to indicate that we are all talking about the same game.
So what gives? I suspect that we have a problem with expectations from
the Indy GP crowd vs those who have used the earlier rally game. I am
most concerned about those that report joystick sensitivity problems.
There's no calibration available? Personally, I preferred keyboard
control foor the origiinal rally game anyway.
I still haven't bought it. But I think I might, and my confusion factor
is going down now.
Cheers,
