GPL- Core.ini

As referred to in a previous post, my core.ini is a SAMPLE file, not an .ini file. How do I make it an .ini file, and thus enabling FF? A simple right-click and rename wouldn't do it...

 TIA

Open "My Computer", select "view" from toolbar, click "folder options",
selct "view" tab, UNCHECK box for "Hide file extensions for known file
types" , click "apply" and " OK". Then you'll be able to rename the file
using the regular rename function.

See, that's what I thought, but that ain't doing the trick. I'm renaming it core.ini, and it's calling itself core.ini.SAMPLE. It's listed as an archive file, but I've tried various properties, with the same result...
Thanks - I needs my FF!!!

Firstly, Colin, ensure that it is read-write enabled.
Then simply remove the last "dot" and the word "sample".
  Then save the file.

All I did was open them both in Notepad and copy/paste the contents of
the sample file into the ini file.

That's very odd indeed!
I've tried to replicate your situation but without (thankfull;y!) any success.........I can rename the archive, no problem at all.

I copied another .ini file to core.ini and then removed everything
and pasted in what I wanted.

I just hate "user friendliness". When I say rename this file to this,
I actually mean that. What a concept.

Actually the problem is not GPL-related but entirely windows-98, that, with
some settings, refuses to rename the extension of a file. You can change
this in the explorer-setting, uncheck "never rename known-file-types", and
you're done.
