Because we want to make you mad.

Then filter the word "GPL".

Yeah so talk about the others games and stop whining.  I don't see you
posting about those "Other" games.

If you have read this newsgroup for ages... you would probably know that
before GPL, there was N2.  And before N2, there was Gp2/Icr2.  And before
that, Nascar Racing 1. And before, F1GP. What's your point?  You won't
change any of us.  If you think we know nothing... where is your personal
input ? I don't see it.

Just filter GPL and "Shut up and race".

Read the charter.

Since this newsgroup is to exchange opinions and review current racing
simulators, it is normal that we will base our opinions on the current best
one on the market.  Like if we per example review a movie, we will base it
on our opinions of previous movies we like.  Or a music CD.  Or a book.  Or
a piece of art.  Or a non-racing game.  Or a car.  Or a computer.  Or a
house.  Or a wife.. err ;)

Normal psychology.  We cannot find middles when we do not know the start and
the end.

So just friggin talk about other sims!!!!!!!!!! It's not like we are forcing
you no ? I've looked at the average threads here, and you would be surprised
to see that HALF the messages in this newsgroup are not GPL related.

Brad,

I read only the GPL threads and that averages out to about 25-30% of
all the daily message traffic.   I gently suggest that you are,
perhaps, overreacting somewhat and that you should do what I do with
the non-GPL posts which is to skip them.

BTW - It's really helpful when people prepend their subject line with
a recognizable acronym for the sim under discussion.  I really
appreciate that.  Wish it was the standard practice.

Why dont they change the name of this newsgroup to rec.GPL.only. I'm sick
and tired of the ***some of the GPL zealots dish out. GPL is NOT the only
worthwhile driving sim/game out there. If GPLis the only way you can enjoy
driving sims then .go start your own exclusive newsgroup. Ive been reading
this site for ages and its about time the GPL zealots stopped appointing
themselves judge and jury on everything to do with driving sims/games.
Oh by the way, for one particular poster GPL IS a game or do you have to pay
for your repairs.
I enjoy most driving games for the game they are.Not on how they compare to
another. Its absurd the ***speiled out about GPL being this or that. Great
to you;***to others.
Personaly I too love GPL but It Aint the one and only thing out there, and
being a GPL freakdoesn't give you the right to trash other games or peoples
opinion/enjoyment of them.

As long as GPL is by far the most realistic computer auto racing simulator
(commercially) available, it will dominate this group....doesn't that make
sense??  I think if a new title comes out that is superior quality to GPL,
it will quickly become the *** conversation piece.  What I don't
understand is, given the purpose and name of this group, why are you
surprised or annoyed?

Marc.

If it bothers you that much dont read the posts.

What bothers me is NOT GPL, it is the attitude of some (it seems a lot) of
the posters. It seems that playing GPL gives you the right to look down your
nose at other games/sims.
The crux of my post is in the part that says "great to you, ***to someone
else.
Just because GPL is the most realistic does not make it anything other than
that. While you or I (as I do)enjoy grappling with(mostly) and (hopefuly)
mastering GPL; to someone else it is boredom incarnate. These peole have the
right to post here without being derided and represented as second class
citizens until they "graduate"to GPL.
End of soapbox.

where is that?  I haven't seen anyone do that since I started
following this NG - except when someone comes in spoutin' ***to
begin with....

ummm, yeah and your point would be.....?  doesn't everything fall into
that same description?

and who has been derided or denied their right to talk about any other
sim? I missed it..... I see a lot of programs being discussed in here
- some I use and some I've never heard of except here.... I don't see
anybody being told that they're an inferior life form for liking one
over another.

cool...

Nothing new in your observation and certainly valid, to a point.  It's
a fundamental aspect of human nature.  I see the same thing at
commercial slot tracks,  SCCA  meets,  Bosnia, the Middle East,
Northern Ireland, etc.

Doesn't justify it, but it doesn't really make the list of things a
person should feel very strongly about.  Just another permutation of
"my car's faster than yours!", "my religion's better than yours!", et
al.
