Willard...
The N4 sound code scaling program doesn't use "real-life" engine sound
samples.........they are short length, looped .wav files that in their raw
form, sound nothing like a real engine (of any kind).....N4 actually uses 4
or 5 different .wav file samples to produce the engine sounds you hear in
the sim***pit...and in the replays. Real-life WC car engines sounds are
of little or no value, except that they would help in determining what a WC
car sounds like.....and your "friend" is I'm sure.....already aware of that
(or he's not so "capable" as you have described him....lol...).
I have produced several sets of more realistic WC engines (and in-car sound
effects) for N4. But, for the time being, I'm not distributing them
publicly......to anyone outside of the Pabst-Racing "Test Driver" group of
PR employee/subs. I also created the engine sounds (under sub-contract
work) for Ratbag's recently released, Dirt Track Racing - Sprint
Cars.....and for the, about-to-be-released, Leadfoot Stadium Truck Racing
sim, also by Ratbag. I tell you this not to impress you.......but only to
point out that I do have some experience producing racing sim engine
sounds.....and I would point out to you that this "process" is much less of
a "science" than it is an "art form." There are several very talented
engine sound programmers/creators within the racing sim community. I think
they would agree with this statement.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news........
