Frames rate in GP2

I would like to know if it's normal. I have a pentium 90 with 40 Megs of
ram with a Stealth 3D 2000 XL with 2 Megs and i can't put all the
details to the highest configuration with GP2.  If i do that, the frame
rate is under 20.  To have a frame rate over 20, i can only put 2 or 3
things for the details.

Thanks in advance.

The most important thing to look at is PROCESSOR OCCUPANCY. To do
this, while you are in the game, press "O" (the letter) and it'll tell
you the percentage. If you're running under 100%, you're running in
real time. Meaning that a lap that takes 1:21 will actually take 1:21.
If you run over 100%, the computer has to slow EVERYTHING down to make
your lap time correct. So a lap of 1:21 might take 1:28 in real time,
but the computer sees it as 1:21.

But if you'd change your proccessor to a p-120 or p-133, you'd
proabbly get great results because they calculate MUCH faster.

well actually not ! when i run 1:16 in adelaide on my pc, the 'real'
stopwatch says 1:09. when a friend of mine runs 1:16 in adelaide on his
pc the stopwatch says 1:11, and both of the pc's are running below 100%.

ok this is not the topic of this thread, but its a problem, and i
wonder, whether lap times of different pc's are really compareable.
any ideas ?

Hi,

Forget lot's of details with "slow" Pentiums
The difference between P120 and P133 is PEANUTS

I have a Pentium 200 with 32 Mb Edo Ram , HX chipset, 512 Kb
Level II pipeline burst cache and Matrox Mystique
VERY fast SVGA card and still I can NOT display all details.
This means : no SKY (takes extra 4 frames per second)
Not all details in the mirrors (only about 50% on)
So frame rate = 23.2 frames per second
If I put everything ON(with SKY) I have a framerate of 14
So we really have to wait till Microprose reprograms the graphics (in
3D please) of GP2 or to wait for 400 or 500 Mhz processors

So is Microprose reprogramming the damn thing??  If so, when, and how will
we existing owners get it?

Maybe for you it's "peanuts", but for someone with a P-120 the
difference is substantial. Faster CPU, faster motherboard, graphics,
PCI, hard disk access and memory. Sounds good to me....
