June 16, 2003 - The Formula One Association used to sell the F1 game license
to everyone who wanted some of the action. Ya know - like a ***does with a
cheap ***? Well no more of that, for the F1A is moving up in the world and
is only going to give Sony a license to make F1 games this year. Just like
it was back in the day of the Playstation.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is pleased to announce the continuation
of the multi-million selling Formula One series. The only game to be
officially licensed by Formula One Administration Ltd, FORMULA ONE 2003 will
be released in July this year.
Benefiting from a brand new deal signed with Formula One Administration
Ltd, the FORMULA ONE franchise will now be exclusive to SCEE and to
PlayStation 2 for the next four years, ensuring unparalleled accuracy and
the closest experience to being an F1 driver you'll get on any platform.

President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Chris Deering said "This
four year exclusive relationship is the basis for a very exciting
partnership between the world's leading motorsport and the most successful
video game platform on the planet. Together I believe we will create a
totally new consumer game experience that combines the power of PlayStation
2 with the exhilaration and spectacle of FORMULA ONE and short of pulling on
gloves and a helmet this is as close to being in the drivers seat as you're
going to get."

We're lucky Sony even lets Bernie run his silly little F1 races in the RW.

I wonder if it's a case of Sony buying exclusivity or everyone else
refusing to ante up in the high stakes licensing game..

Probably the latter. As we know, EA dropped their license quite some
time ago, since they refused to pay the atrocious price. Well, perhaps
this will lead to simulations developed about other racing series.

What's there to lose?

I mean - it's only F1;  a dull "one make" series.

Seriously. I think it's good that Sony sit on their exclusive license for
years to come. This means that other developers will have to find other -
*far* more interessting series to simulate.

Hopefully this will open the door for a new golden age of simulators, as the
developers won't be able to sell any old *** - just because it got a fancy
name(license) on it.

What was particularly exciting about this parking maneuver?

Did he have to reverse in?

Or was it a bit of parallel parking?

Was he just being sarcastic?

Where you there?

Yepp, a Ferrari is a Minardi is a Williams.

Yepp, because those mysterious developers can't produce a crappy
F1 arcade game anymore, they'll now produce a quality <whatever> sim.

One, it's AussiE V8's !!! with an "e" and 3 (three) exclamation marks,
correct spelling is always important in matters like these and I feel 3
(three) exclamation marks properly conveys my desire for a sim modeling
this wonderful racing series, less than 3 (three) doesn't quite get the
point across and more than 3 (three) is way out according to a friend of
mine who apparently knows these things

Two, I'm very much single :-)

Sure.  You just have to have all the front runners suffer mechanicals
/contact.  It's fairly easy.
