GP4 and framerates

Group,

I'm running a P4 2.0 gig with a Geforce 4 4400 card.  Regardless of how most
graphics options are set it sits at the back of the grid on about 15 fps
(according to FRAPS).  At the start and near the start/finish straight it
slows down badly.

However, if I set the frames per second down to 18, below recommended,
although FRAPS shows worse framerates it performs very nicely.  I'm assuming
high graphics fps are slowing down the processor and lowering them frees up
processor.  Any ideas?

TIA

Strange,

I have a 1400 XP+ and the same GF-card and it runs smoothly in 1280*1024.
FPS is set at 30 fps (default)

hey
try this

no other cars
just you
drive fast and then jam the brakes
keep the "o" button down and watch that processor
occupancy
you get smokes and then watch how that shoots up the
occupany !!!

and CRammond said he used the 3D card
but actually the CPU is doing everything

Regardless of how most
grid on about 15 fps
start/finish straight it
very nicely.  I'm assuming
lowering them frees up
