System with good frame rate

System with good frame rate

by EDDI » Wed, 16 Apr 1997 04:00:00

After reading all the posts, it seems that there is no system out there
that can run a decent frame rate with all details turned on in Nascar2. I
am getting a new system shortly, probably mmx. While running N2 is not my
primary concern in my system, I would like to get a video card that would
run it better than my present p90 with a Diamond Stealth 32 card. Any
suggestions would be helpful

I don't think you read all the posts then (or the posts you read refer
to another recent driving sim with a "2" in the name :-) ). With a
Rendition based video card, any run of the mill Pentium (even a 90)
can run N2 with full details at 30 fps almost all of the time. (except
at Martinsville)

Without a rendition card, you probably need a P-133 or P-166 and a
decent 2D video card that supports VESA 2.0

I certainly do not agree with this.  I am running a p200 w/o mmx

still turn off sky and asphalt to get 30fps.  Of course, if you only
run with 8 cars drawn ahead, then you could get this, but I like to
see where the pace car is on restarts.  To me, when you say 'full
details' this means 39 cars drawn ahead, atleast 4 heard, and 4
behind, and all textures on.

Ed:
I run a Dell P90 with 40 megs and Creative 3d Blaster. Can run n2 with
great frame rate with  grass texture, wall texture off, everything
else on. Only at Martinsville does it slow, but I here that from just
about everyone.
