Thanks much, but you should have stressed the word "lucky"... I could have
stuffed it 10 times over with the condition my car was in and every other
contender was either taken out or stuffed it himself.
I had a rather hectic first lap. I got a good start and trusted Roger to go
side by side through that first kink. Unfortunately Roger either didn't
expect me to make a fight of it (gave him only half the track) or misjudged
my position relative to him (there was some warp involved). Our get together
had a knock on effect for other drivers, for which I apologise, but somehow
I scraped through mostly unharmed. Nevertheless, knowing the way I set up my
car it's rather vulnerable to unstability under braking through damage, I
took it easy into Scierie... at which point someone came screaming passed.
This same person then shot across the apex of the bend across the track
again and off the other side. I proceded to drive the turn as normal and was
then struck by this car again... whether he was trying to recover or just
bounced back, I don't know, but this time I copped some real damage and I
was all over the place when I used the center pedal. Apart from coming
unstuck on several occasions, I managed to keep a rythm which was about 1
sec per lap slower than Asbjorn (the class of the field again), untill he
finally ended his run through a concentration lapse.
At only just over Int/Pro "Long" distance we can hardly call this a GP
"win". Think we should have a re-run of this one.
Jan.
