F1CS2000 brake tweaking please?

by double » Wed, 06 Jun 2001 04:07:03

Shortly after F1 2000 was released, someone in here suggested to tweak a
value in the default.vhs file, as-well-as another tip or 2 to get the
braking less touchy.  I have since lost all my notes about this so I'm
hoping someone can refresh my memory and suggest how I can make the braking
in F1 CS 2000 less touchy.

It was me, but I am a little fuzzy on it all now. The default brake setting
was (I think) somewhere around 9xxx. Change it to about 6500.

Should the axis sensitivity for the brake be left at 0% as well?

I honestly don't remember. I don't have the game installed now either. Andre
W. asked about the brake issue not that long ago, maybe he can chime in.

I've got F1CS installed, but I never had to mess with the braking
tweaks with my TSW2.  You might visit the High Gear F1CS2K forum
(http://www.simracingnews.com/) and do a search for "brakes," because
I think there was quite a bit of discussion there about these kinds of
mods and such.

I don't think the brakes are too sensitive. It's just bad setup. Try
different settings for the Brake Ratio in your setup instead of tweaking the
VHS file.I'm sure you'll find a well balanced one. If you lock your front
tires, increase the ratio of the rear brakes. Also check the tire pressures.
Overblown tires usually lock more easily.

F1CS2000 brake tweaking please?

No. I heard that the old LWFF was good, but the new model was crap, so I
sticked to my old gameport MSFF and am quite happy with it, at least as far
as "efficient braking" is concerned.
