What is dual axis??

I've got a t2 and it works fine with gtsc demo before patching. Now I read
posts about probs. withs dual axis. And being able to drive SECONDS !!!!
faster in GPL. Does dual axis mean that the throttle works completely
independent from the brake so you can throttle and brake at the same time or
is something else meant by this.

And can you really improve laptimes using dual axis ???

Almost Pat, dual axis is combined  throttle and brake hooked on the game port
connector. For separate gas and brake you need 3 axis minimum or you can even
have 4 axis (for a clutch in GPL / GP2). There's many configuration that could
be used for separate throttle/brake.

wheel on X axis port A
Gas on Y axis port A
brake on X (or Y) axis port B

or

wheel on X axis port A
brake on Y axis port A
gas on X (or Y) axis port B

or better :
Wheel on X axis port A
Clutch on Y axis port A
Gas on X axis port B
Brake on Y axis port B

So you can effectivally throttle and brake at the same time.

Dual axis (X and Y on port A) can't do that since both potentiometer are mount
in series.

Main advantage is true TRAIL BRAKING, and also correcting the car trajectory
at apex while reacelerating sooner, you can use the brake to prevent excessive
wheelspin.

I've made a project called "blackbox" on my website, it's a 2 to 4 axis
switching controller (final: at the press of a button, you can switch). It's
very handy with certain game that doesn't like 3 or 4 axis, so you can switch to

the "normal"
dual axis, and have broad type controller.

URL is : http://www.simracingmag.com

All 8 pages explaining this "blackbox" project could be used for other purpose
since i've explained all the uses of each pin  for gameport connectors.

Good luck

Eric

Are tsw or do-it yourself the only options in dual-axis pedals? sounds like
more money..

Any rudder control that has a switch to "split" the axis can work with a
variety of wheels.  I've used a TM Grandprix1/CH Pedals combo to do this for
years. Total cost was about ninety bucks.  The CH pedals have a car/plane
switch. The paddles on the GP1 wheel work as a combined axis.  Just replaced
that outfit with a Logitech FF wheel last week.  I'd sell you my old one
cheap, but it's just a tad worn out. <g>
