You can order one from VRF's web site. I don't know how long you'll have
to wait to receive it though.
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
It's $40 shipping to England.

Alan, this is GOOD NEWS indeed!  I was wondering if they were even
shipping based on what I read in reply to my post.  Are you beta testing
or was yours a genuine order?

I can't wait to try it with GPL.  World Sports Cars OTOH is going to be
the "Cats Meow".  Intellivibe suppport *and* the Act Labs RS Shifter.
AAAAAHHHHHH!  I want it now!!!!

GPL with the VRF Tactile Feedback System(FF seat)

I just got done tuning it to the Ferrari and I was driving with a smile
the whole time, hehe. It's great. When you get near redline everything
smooths out because of the high rev's and torque dies down. but at low
rev's while coming out of a hairpin or a slow corner it's a monster of a
engine but you can feel it smoothing out as the revs rise, it a
realistic feeling. Now I'm not even shifting by sound but instead I do
it by feel because you can feel the redline and I find it gives you
better control over the throttle out of slow corners because of the
feeback. I was testing it at Monaco in the Ferrari because of it's slow
corners and hard acceleration with 2 high speed zones and It was a lot
of fun, more then without the Feedback. I just wish I could feel the
curb in the Chicane. ;) Maybe if GPL get's IntelliVIBE support, HELLO
PAPY!! But right now if you go for a ride in the grass on other tracks
such as Silverstone you'll know it.:)
Btw this does not take any resources from your computer to run it
because the system has it's own 10mhz onboard microprocessor to sample
everything.

My settings for the Ferrari.

Treble=2
Intensity=7
ManuVIBE=2
Bass=5
Mid=4
Audio Sense level= 1/4 or 9o'clock position

I'm Hoping everyone get's theirs soon, I would like to know what their
settings are and what they think of mine.

Does the VRF actually have force feedback or does it just work on sound like
the Aura Interactor?
Cheers, Andrew.

Alan Orto

GPL with the VRF Tactile Feedback System(FF seat)

by Alan Orto » Fri, 18 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I would say it's force feedback but it can also work off of sound if the
game doesn't support FF, it has 2 modes(IntelliVIBE=FF and Audio
Sense=Sound). As you can see from the options(Look Below) it's kind of
like tweaking a force feedback wheel but it's only going to work as good
as the game or programers will allow and we all know how crapy the force
feedback is in N3 with ff wheels and this is no different, gpl is better
and it doesn't even support IntelliVIBE. N3 only has 7 tweakable
parameters while other sims will have 50 or more. Like for instance they
could probably model each tire individually so if your right rear tire
hit a curb you would feel your right rear hit the curb or if it were the
front left tire you would feel the front left hit it,ect.. Also they
could probably model wheel spin, wheel hop, locking of tires, suspension
movement, bumps in the track, feel you engine starting to miss, feel
your car get air then feel it land and bottom out or hit the bump stops,
ect..
Put it this way it you would feel like your more part of the game with
it then with out it. It may not be a motion platform but I think it's
going to be pretty good when the ball gets rolling.

here is an example of the N3.ini from Nascar 3 demo with the VRF's
parameters.

RAST 1
SND 1
CPU 2

;---------------------------------------------------------------------
;This section configures intelliVIBE for VRF's Tactile Feedback System
;---------------------------------------------------------------------
VIBE_ON

VIBE_MPH_SCALE 100
;This parameter is optional and can be used to scale the amount of
vibration generated by the speed of the ;car.  The xxx number can be set
to anything between 0 and 200, with 100 being the default setting.

VIBE_RPM_SCALE 60
;This parameter is optional and can be used to scale the amount of
vibration generated by the engine rpm of ;the car.  The xxx number can
be set to anything between 0 and 200, with 100 being the default
setting.

VIBE_NUM_SMOOTHING_SAMPLES 2
;This parameter is optional and is used to change the number of samples
which are used to determine the ;tactile feedback at a particular point
in time. A higher number would cause the changes in force to be less
;abrupt but there would be a potentially noticeable lag under quickly
changing conditions.
;The x number can be set to anything between 2 and 10, with 4 being the
default setting.

VIBE_LAT_G_SCALE 70
;This parameter is optional and can be used to scale the amount of
vibration generated in the different ;regions of the seat due to lateral
(side to side) acceleration.
;The xxx number can be set to anything between 0 and 200, with 100 being
the default setting.

VIBE_LONG_G_SCALE 70
;This parameter is optional and can be used to scale the amount of
vibration generated in the different ;regions of the seat due to
longitudinal (forward and backward) acceleration.  The xxx number can be
set to ;anything between 0 and 200, with 100 being the default setting.

VIBE_SURFACE_EFFECT_CUTOFF 100
;This parameter is optional and is used to specify the upper range of
vibration generated by driving on rough ;surfaces.  The xxx number can
be set to anything between 0 and 255, with 128 being the default
setting.

VIBE_SURFACE_EFFECT_SCALE 100
;This parameter is optional and can be used to scale the amount of
vibration generated by driving on rough ;surfaces.  The xxx number can
be set to anything between 0 and 200, with 100 being the default
setting.

VIBE_PORT_ADDRESS_NUM 3
;     This parameter is used to specify which of the 4 possible parallel
;     port addresses are to be used.  Consult the following chart
;     to determine which number to use for your parallel port
configuration:
;     Parallel port address:          Use this number for 'x':
;                           278                               1
;                           2bc                               2
;                           378                               3
;                           3bc                               4

;     If this parameter is not included in the NL.INI file, the default
port address of 378 will be used.  ;That is the address which almost all
parallel ports use.  To check your parallel port address, look at the
;Properties of your LPT1 port in the Device Manager tab of the System
control panel.  The parallel port base ;address is the left number of
the Setting column of the Resource table for Input/Output Address.

Hi guys,

I ordered mine yesterday based on what I read here. Any idea how long it
will take. I can't wait to "really" drive that Ferrari!
